  4. Grenfell fire anniversary marked in South Yorkshirepublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 14 June 2018

    A memorial is due to take place in Sheffield later to remember the 72 people who died as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire in London.

    It's a year since the blaze took hold of the block in west London.

    The commemoration will take place outside Sheffield Town Hall at 17:00.

    Councillor Jim Steinke, who's due to speak at the event, says lessons must be learned from the tragedy.

    "One of the lessons from Grenfell is that tenants were not being listened to by the local authority and I'm absolutely clear that we should be listening to tenants in Sheffield," he says.

    A 15-year-old girl reported missing in Kirklees earlier has been found, say West Yorkshire police.

    Officers thanked people who had shared the appeal to try and locate Katie Wickham, after she went missing from Heckmondwike.

    Sheffield City Council have been at a standstill since the Town Hall clock stopped ticking on Tuesday, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

    The familiar sight of the 200ft tall Town Hall clock confused passers-by when the hands stopped working.

    The council has confirmed it was "not struck by lightning" and added the chimes were still working.

    A company hired by the council have started fixing it and hope to have it running again soon.

    For the moment, the council are unsure how much it will cost to repair the clock.

    A North Yorkshire Police officer has been sacked for gross misconduct after 15 years in the force.

    PC Christopher Parnell admitted he had accessed the police computer system 30 times without an appropriate or proper policing purpose, during a three-day misconduct panel.

    He also admitted failing to declare business interests and that he'd used police email and printers for his own business.

    The officer had denied being aggressive, intimidating and confrontational to another colleague.

    A takeaway based in Leeds' Kirkgate Market has been highly praised at the BBC Food and Farming Awards.

    Manjit Kaur, who runs Manjit's Kitchen in the market, won the best street-food and takeaway category at the awards last night.

    Judges said they were impressed by her cooking and Punjabi recipes.

    Manjit was taught to cook Punjabi food from the age of six by her grandmother.

    She launched Manjit's Kitchen with her husband in 2010.

    It offers vegetarian Indian street-food from the food hall at the market.

    It also caters a number of events at other locations from a yellow, converted horsebox.

  10. Listen: Rise in over 40s cannabis treatment - York studypublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 14 June 2018

    Researchers in York have found the number of middle-aged cannabis users, external going into treatment has undergone a "sharp rise."

    The study's also found the number of women seeking treatment for cannabis use has nearly doubled over the last ten years.

    The numbers of people using the drug has been in steady decline over the past decade, from two million to almost one and a half million.

    York researchers, however, highlight this may no longer be the case, with a sharp increase in cannabis users over the age of 40 and a 95% increase in women, presenting to treatment centres.

    The research was led by Ian Hamilton from the University of York.

    He says it's possible a combination of tobacco use and cannabis could have contributed to the rise:

    West Yorkshire Police confirmed a 60-year-old woman fell from a balcony but said officers are not treating the incident as suspicious.

    The trust is conducting its own internal investigation.

    A man has been killed in a two-car collision in Dewsbury.

    It happened at about 21.25 last night on Thornhill Road when a blue Toyota Yaris and white Toyota Auris collided.

    The driver of the Yaris, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The driver of the Auris was not injured.

    A 15-year-old girl has been reported missing in Kirklees, say West Yorkshire Police.

    Katie Wickham was found by officers yesterday but has again been reported missing, officers say.

    Police are concerned about her welfare because of her age and vulnerability.

    She was last seen in Heckmondwike at about 19.30 on Wednesday.

    She is described as white with long dark red/burgundy hair and wearing white ripped jeans, with a green cardigan and grey boots.

    The funeral of legendary Sheffield boxing trainer Brendan Ingle is taking place at Sheffield Cathedral.

    The Dublin-born former boxer died from a brain haemorrhage last month.

    He gained his reputation by guiding several fighters to world titles from his Sheffield gym.

    Before the service began, friends and colleagues gathered in the city's Cutlers Hall:

    The funeral service, which starts at about 13:30, will be relayed to people outside the cathedral.

    Among those attending will be former boxers such as Johnny Nelson, who Mr Ingle trained at his gym in Wincobank.

    Following the announcement by Unison that a bin collectors' strike will take place in Kirklees at the start of July, the council has said in a statement that senior council officers were due to have a further meeting with the union this afternoon - but its members walked out.

    Kirklees Council says it had reached an agreement at previous talks in May about concerns over holidays, workloads, working practices and allegations of harassment and bullying.

    But Unison has now made an "unreasonable demand" as a condition of any further talks going ahead, the council says.

    The authority will put plans in place to minimise the disruption of the industrial action, it adds.
