    A second plan for a waste incinerator in Sowerby Bridge is expected to be given the go-ahead later.

    Calderdale Council is set to discuss a proposal by Calder Valley Skip Hire, which wants to burn rubbish instead of sending it to landfill.

    Campaigners have raised concerned about health risks from incinerator emissions.

    Conservative councillor Mike Payne said the location, on Mearclough Road, is all wrong: "Sowerby Bridge is a beautiful place to live," he said.

    "The site which they want to install this incinerator is in the valley.

    "It's next to a river which flooded extensively in Boxing Day 2015, it is a residential area and next to a school."

    British Transport Police say a person has died after being struck by a train this afternoon.

    Officers were called to Chesterfield station shortly after 13:30.

    Police remain on the scene and are working to identify the person and inform their family.

    The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

    One of the Japanese Emperor's granddaughters, Princess Kako of Akishino, has completed her studies in Yorkshire.

    The 23-year-old appeared for a press call at the University of Leeds to mark the end of her year as an exchange student in the city.

    The princess enrolled at the university last September as part of its study abroad programme, and will now return to finish her undergraduate degree at the International Christian University in Tokyo.

    CrossCountry trains say diversionary lines have now been opened between Chesterfield and Sheffield.

    It follows an incident at Chesterfield which is being dealt with by emergency services.

    Firefighters have released these pictures of a fire which swept through the roofs of four bungalows in North Yorkshire.

    Fire crews are removing roof tiles and damping down after the fire spread through the four terraced properties.

    Police say all the homes had to be evacuated and are asking people to avoid the area while emergency services work at the scene.

    Two crews from Northallerton and engines from Stokesley, Middlesbrough, Coulby Newham, and Yarm were needed to contain the fire.

    CrossCountry trains heading south from Sheffield are experiencing delays this afternoon.

    It's due to an incident at Chesterfield.

    The train company have not given any details about the incident but say delays and alterations are expected.

    Grant funding for new film and television studios at the former High Melton campus of Doncaster College has been agreed.

    The decision was made at the first meeting of the Sheffield City Region Combined Authority chaired by the new Mayor Dan Jarvis.

    Members agreed that £4.1m of Local Growth Fund cash should go towards the project headed up by 360 Degrees Media, external.

    The scheme incorporates a film and TV studios, a visual effects production facility, a film and TV training academy and a hotel and events business.

    It's projected to create around 220 new jobs and potentially thousands more in the supply chain.

    A former supermarket manager from Doncaster is taking his play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, external this summer.

    Thomas Byatt, 25, has based the work, Bagged, on his experiences as a store manager in South Yorkshire.

    Janet Marsh, one of his cast members, is his old drama teacher and runs the Pauline Quirke Academy in Doncaster.

    This tree looks as if its covered in frost but the picture was actually taken over the weekend when the sun was shining.

    It's actually shrouded in spectacular cobweb-like nests.

    PC Rich Sutcliffe snapped it along the banks of the River Wharfe, near Kilnsey, in North Yorkshire.

    He says: "I've seen some mysterious sights at work but this took me by surprise.

    "The whole tree was moving with caterpillars.

    A bit of quick research into the phenomenon suggests it's caused by an infestation of either bird cherry ermine moth caterpillars or hawk moth caterpillars.

    This documentary brings together multiple stories from the tower block fire.

    A man has been charged after a 20-year-old was stabbed in the chest in a West Yorkshire park at the weekend.

    The man was critically injured in the attack in Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge, at about 17:30 on Saturday.

    Samuel Smith, 18, of Elm Bank, Bradford Road Cleakheaton has been charged with assault and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court later.

    A 19-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail.
