A raid on a storage yard illegally converted into a site for mobile homes has seen police uncover drugs, stolen cars and a stun gun.
Rushcliffe Borough Council has said it had secured a closure order for the site, on Rempstone Road in Sutton Bonington, on 19 February - five days after Nottinghamshire Police arrested four people at the location.
A temporary stop order had been issued in October last year after council officers found the site - which had been used to store fairground rides - now hosted six caravans which were being used as accommodation, with people living in "horrific" conditions.
Cannabis, crack cocaine and heroin were all found at the scene alongside items which had been taken in burglaries, including two cars, a motorbike, three petrol lawnmowers, bank cards and a stun gun disguised as a lighter.
Rob Inglis, from the council, said: "The conditions found for families and children were horrific, including some who were completely innocent parties renting caravans above market price to live in true squalor and danger."

A Nottinghamshire Police officer is being tested for coronavirus, the force has confirmed.
The officer has been taken off-duty and advised to stay at home after he reported feeling unwell following a recent trip to northern Italy.
The force said the officer was on duty at the Bridewell Custody Suite last night, and in line with guidance from Public Health England, was now being tested for coronavirus.
Assistant chief constable Steve Cooper said: "Nottinghamshire Police officers, staff and volunteers come into contact with people each day as part of their work, so it is absolutely essential that we take sensible precautions to identify potential issues as they arise and ensure that their impact is contained as quickly as possible.
"Nationally thousands of people have been tested for this virus with only a handful being positive results, so I would like to reassure the public that the force has acted quickly in this case to ensure that the appropriate action has been taken."

The Duke of Cambridge has been in Mansfield today for a trip to a homeless centre.
Prince William has been visiting the Beacon in Mansfield, a day centre which supports about 50 homeless and vulnerable people in the town.
He told the Vice Lord Lieutenant: "I think I surprised the mayor, he didn't know I was coming."
Earlier in the day, the duke visited a nearby quarry to officially open Tarmac’s National Skills and Safety Park and meet young apprentices.
It's the second time in a month the prince has been to the East Midlands - two weeks ago he visited the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall, near Loughborough.
