An inmate at HMP Nottingham who was found in his cell died from hanging, an inquest has heard.

Ben Ireson's body was discovered in his single-occupancy cell on 13 December 2018.

An inquest into the 31-year-old's death was resumed at Nottingham Coroner's Court on Wednesday.

A jury has been sworn in, and they heard Mr Ireson - who was born in Luton - had been held on remand in the prison since 16 October that year.

They heard staff had been concerned about the risk he posed to himself, and that he had "a number of cell moves" during his time there.

A post-mortem examination found a mark caused by a ligature around his neck, and a medical cause of death was given as hanging.

The inquest continues, and is expected to conclude next week.

A tattooist to the stars is struggling to work after his studio and equipment was destroyed in floods after Storm Dennis.

Kevin Paul's home in Breedon on the Hill was flooded more than a week ago, and he's been left staying with his mother in her two-bedroom flat with his pregnant wife and two children.

"We've lost a £1,200 pushchair that we'd just bought for the new baby, brand new furniture put in six months ago, all the kids' memories and their Christmas presents," he said.

Mr Paul, who has tattooed the likes of Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles, is expecting the arrival of their baby in eight weeks and says the family are effectively homeless while they find somewhere else to stay

And meanwhile, the flood has left him unable to work.

"It's messed everything up," he said. "I need to work to make money to sort these problems, but I can't because the stuff is damaged.

A mental health nurse who gave a patient an extra dose of prescription medicine without checking their chart has been sanctioned.

Craig Mavunga was handed an 18-month conditions of practice order at the end of a recent Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) hearing.

During the hearing, the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust employee was described as "having a tendency to deflect accountability on to colleagues".

It was also claimed he demonstrated a "lack of competency" in some areas of his work.

The NMC panel heard "a number of concerns" were raised in relation to Mr Mavunga's practice while he was working at Stewart House, an inpatient mental health rehabilitation facility in Enderby.

There was an incident when Mr Mavunga gave a patient a fourth dose of a medication, when he was only supposed to have three doses in a 24-hour period.

The panel's report concluded his clinical ability was inadequate as he was unable to operate efficiently without a heavy degree of supervision.

He told the NMC that he did not want to make excuses but that there was not "adequate support" at Stewart House and that the facility was "understaffed".

The council is forecast to spend millions of pounds more in a year than it brings in, despite major savings over the past few years.
