  1. Boston Rector comments: Diocese issues statementpublished at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

We told you earlier about comments from the Rector of Boston, Alyson Buxton, unearthed by a Freedom of Information request.

In an email to the Heritage Lottery Fund she described Boston as "murderous and divided"but the Diocese of Lincoln says that she was merely quoting national reports.

    Quote Message

By quoting directly from reports from The Independent (23 January 2016) and the Policy Exchange (January 2016), the Rector was clearly emphasising the urgency of the task taken on by the Parish of Boston to help transform the town through a huge amount of good work actively to promote integration, as has been frequently evidenced in the press and on national television."

  17. Council referendum would lead to 'war' between authoritiespublished at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2017

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Gainsborough MP Sir Edward Leigh has said a referendum on whether to scrap Lincolnshire's current council system would lead to "war" between the different authorities.

The Tory administration at Lincolnshire County Council say it's time to end the two-tier structure and replace it with a unitary authority. If a referendum was to give the proposal the go-ahead then all the district councils and the County Council would be scrapped.

    Edward LeighImage source, Edward Leigh

But Sir Edward says that County Councillors are just trying to justify their role:

    Quote Message

The problem with the County Council is that it's in search for a role because schools have largely been taken away from it. More and more people are arguing that maybe there's a case to be made for social care to go to the NHS. If that happened then the County Council would have very little to do... I don't really see the point between having a war between the councils for the next four years.

Sir Edward Leigh, MP for Gainsborough
