    The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership is welcoming tougher penalties for speeding drivers. 

    Fines for those caught well above the speed limit have been increased by 50% from today. 

    Guidelines for magistrates say they can expect a fine of one and a half times their weekly incoming - up to a maximum of £1,000.

    There were 59 road deaths in Lincolnshire to December 22 last year and John Siddle from the road safety partnership says curbing speed saves lives.

    A bird normally seen in the Arctic and the northern coast of Norway is attracting nature lovers in Lincolnshire. 

    The white billed diver - also known as the yellow billed loon - has been photographed in recent days on the Witham at Martin Dales, Southrey and Stixwould near Woodhall Spa.

    Staff at the Kings Arms at Martin Dales, say they've seen an increase in business as the word spread.

  11. WW2 aircraft made in Longbridge to return to the skiespublished at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2017

    A £3.5m project is under way to restore a historic World War Two bomber to its former glory.

    The Lancaster, known as Just Jane, was built by Austin Motors in Longbridge in April 1945 and is considered one of the most well-known aircraft Britain has ever produced.

    During the restoration process, the aircraft will have to be taken to pieces, with every component being checked before being put back together again.

    The East Kirkby Aviation Centre, in Lincolnshire, is behind the restoration project and hopes to see the Lancaster flying again by 2020.

    Bad news for HSBC customers in Horncastle and Brigg this afternoon - the banking giant has announced it's going to close it's branches in both towns.

    The firm says it's because people are changing their banking habits - carrying out more business online and much less in the branches.

    HSBC says the two Lincolnshire banks are among 62 across the country to close.

    Away from all the excitement of the FA Cup, Lincoln City have got a game against Barrow in the National League tonight - and it's away.

    The Imps could extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points with a win.

    The Mayor of Skegness is defending the resort after an online poll named it in the top 10 worst holiday destinations in the world.

    It's ninth on the list compiled by travel website Destination Tips , externalwith areas of North Korea and Syria also featuring. 

    Councillor Dick Edginton says the poll is "ridiculous" and "damaging". What do you make of this slur on our seaside gem?
