  2. Public hearing into night closures at Grantham A&E possiblepublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2017

    Rod Whiting
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Health secretary Jeremy Hunt could order a public hearing to look into overnight closures at Grantham A&E.

He's been asked to intervene in the decision to extend its closure between 18:30 and 09:00.

It was originally shut overnight only temporarily back in August last year.

Today it's been announced that an Independent Review Panel has been to examine the case. It could result in a public hearing in the future.

The news was delivered to Lincolnshire MPs by the Prime Minister Theresa May herself when they met today to discuss the Grantham hospital.

Just because the sky is grey doesn't mean you can't take great photos, though admittedly having the Red Arrows on hand certainly helps.

Debbie Scott from Trust says it would benefit the whole area:

    Quote Message

It'd be a tremendous boost. If you've ever been to other areas where they've opened up their canal properly, it's reinvigorated the place and brought new businesses and people in."

The picture got retweeted hundreds of times and while PSCO Bunker says he's proud of the recognition he says he was just doing his job:

    Quote Message

I was really surprised at the reaction. I've done nothing special, it's what we do. Somebody on Twitter said I needed a reward but I said the smile on the woman's face was all the reward I needed.

David Newlove is minister at the church - he said they've been amazed by the response:

    Quote Message

I've got to say it's been a tremendous response. We thought we'd get a trailer full or a small van, we've had to hire a seven and a half tonne truck just to transport the amount we got and we think that'll be full.

  15. Rink on the brink of closurepublished at 11:23 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2017

Campaigners who want to keep Grimsby's ice rink open will present their case to a working group today.

North East Lincolnshire council plans to close the rink because it says it's too expensive to run. A decision will be made on Thursday about its future.

    Ice rink

Chris Lyons from Grimsby Ice Hockey club says if it does close it'll have a massive impact:

    Quote Message

It's going to have a major effect, there's at least four or five ice hockey teams that no longer have a home. It's a long way to go to get to the next nearest rink.

Chris Lyons, Grimsby Ice Hockey club

  18. Lincoln City triumph over North Ferribypublished at 10:03 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2017

    Rob Makepeace
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire sport

Lincoln City's FA Cup success may have captured the imagination of the country, but the side have made secret that their priority is a promotion for next season.

Last night they took a step closer, beating North Ferriby 1-0 and staying three points clear at the top of the table.

    danny cowleyImage source, bbc

Manager Danny Cowley said it was a good result - but not a great match:

    Quote Message

The conditions played a big part, they were particularly difficult overhead and the surface was tricky as well so we struggled with fluency. Sometimes you have to dig in, dig deep and grit it out and we managed to do that.

    Danny Cowley, Lincoln City manager

Meanwhile the Imps expect to find out later today how many tickets they'll be allocated for their FA Cup tie away at Arsenal - it's believed they'll receive around 9,000 for the match.
