    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

The LGA says council tax rises in Lincolnshire won't be enough to plug the growing social care bill.

The County Council is adding 4% to its levy - half will go to pay for caring services.

Lincolnshire Councillor Marianne Overton is Vice Chairman of the LGA - she says what's needed is more Government funding:

    Quote Message

We have a funding gap. Last I looked in Lincolnshire it was £57m, we've got a budget coming forward on Friday so we'll know more after that... we need genuinely new government money now."

Just received one more in the post that brings total to five.

Six received up to today but I bet they'll be another!

We have received 10 in 5 separate envelopes (we've got two already on the bins). It's a disgrace when the council say they have no money for vital services! What a waste of paper, envelopes and postage!

  14. Dumped chicks humanely killedpublished at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

One thousand recently hatched chicks which were found abandoned in South Lincolnshire have had to be humanely killed.

The chicks - which were about a day old - were discovered on the outskirts of Crowland on Friday

The RSPCA says because they were found near a bird flu exclusion zone it would have been too risky for them to be re-homed.

An investigation is now underway to find out who dumped them.

Justin Stubbs from the RSPCA says they're making progress:

    Quote Message

We know where they've come from, it's how they got there is what we're looking into. We had a few calls over the weekend that have produced some results. We're appealing for anyone who may have been offered chicks to buy, literally from the back of a van, if that's happened please give us a call."

  15. Lincolnshire PCC backs 'spit hoods'published at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Now, you may remember that earlier this month two police forces announced they'd be issuing all their officers with so called "spit hoods".

    hoodImage source, HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY

Spit hoods are mesh guards put over the heads of people being arrested to stop them biting or spitting.

Well today Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner says he would support the mesh hoods here, although there are no formal plans to introduce them.

    Quote Message

I wanted to personally check what it was like to wear one. I wore it around the house and I was still able to breathe and move around. I think they do protect officers and it's something I would fully support senior officers introducing.

Marc Jones, Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner

Some human rights groups have labelled them as "cruel and degrading".

  19. FA Cup: Who do the Imps want to face next?published at 11:27 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2017

    Rob Makepeace
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire sport

Imps manager and man of the hour Danny Cowley has been telling us who he'd like to see his side take on next in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

Arsenal are facing Sutton United tonight and the winner will play Lincoln City next month.

    Quote Message

I hope Sutton can win. It'd be brilliant for the non-league game to have two teams in the quarter final. It'd be great if they can do it but if they can't obviously we get to go to the Emirates to play.

    Danny Cowley, Lincoln City manager

Let's see that goal from Sincil Bank where over a thousand fans who couldn't get tickets watched the game on a big screen.
