That's according to Lincolnshire County Council's head of highways, who's been on the streets outside a school in Sleaford today.

Councillor Richard Davies says parents recognise the cameras are reducing the risk of accidents.

    Quote Message

The anecdotal evidence is that its, by in large, well received by parents, and it is helping to keep some of our most dangerous hotspots safe. I think the proof is in the pudding but the fact that other parents and other schools are asking us to come and do a similar thing in their local community would suggest its going well.

This whooper swan came as part of a group to the RSPB's Frampton Marsh reserve last winter.

But when all the other swans returned to their breeding grounds in Iceland in the spring, one lonely bird was left behind.

    SwanImage source, Neil Smith

The team at Frampton Marsh think the lonely swan had a damaged wing and so couldn't make the journey north.

It's been waiting patiently for the other birds return which should be sometime over the next few weeks.

    Quote Message

The poor lonely swan has been a feature of the nature reserve over the summer, as it patiently waits for its friends to return. Frampton Marsh is such a wonderful place for wildlife though that it seems quite happy to stay here. It has even been making friends with a local mute swan.
