    Police in Humberside say no pupils witnessed the incident in which a member of school staff was stabbed in Winterton this morning.

    A 16-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident.

    In a statement Humberside Police, Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson said: "We attended a serious incident just before 09.00 this morning at Winterton Community Academy, and a 61-year-old woman is being treated in hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

    "Staff at the school and police officers responded to this isolated incident very quickly, and one person is currently in custody as a result.

    "There was no disruption to any other children, non of whom witnessed the incident.

    "Children at the school have not been directly affected by this."

    A 61-year-old woman has been taken to hospital this morning with stab wounds following an incident at Winterton Community Academy.

    Headteacher Mr Gareth Morris said: "We are keen to reassure parents and the community that this is an isolated incident and that the school remains open.

    "We will support our staff directly affected and will be keeping parents updated throughout the day."

    He may have been labelled the 'the worst dancer in Strictly history', but the Reverend Richard Coles (pictured below) found time in his busy schedule this weekend to make an appearance at his old stomping ground in Boston.

    The Strictly Come Dancing contestant used to be the curate of St Botolph's Church in Boston.

    This weekend he returned to the Stump to visit staff there.

    But was that all he was doing? Or was there another reason for the visit which is "Strictly" confidential? That remains to be seen.

    Historian David Starkey is to appear at Lincoln's Drill Hall this week as part of the city's book festival.

    The Tudor expert (pictured) will be talking about the dynasty winning the battle of Bosworth Fields and a propaganda war which followed it.

    This year its theme is The Gothic.

  10. 'Dramatic increase' in serious road accidentspublished at 09:05 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    A volunteer group says they've seen a "dramatic increase" in the number of people they've helped after serious road accidents in Lincolnshire in the past year.

    Lives First Responders say they've helped nearly 800 people who've been in road traffic collisions so far this year.

    Last year they'd been to 677 by this time.

    The charity's 700 volunteers, which attend 999 emergencies, can often be the first person to provide medical assistance at a serious accident.

    A murder investigation has begun after a man died over the weekend.

    Police were called out to a house on Pen Street (pictured above) in Boston on Saturday afternoon and found a man with serious injuries.

    He was taken to hospital but died on Sunday morning.

    Seven people are in custody in relation to the incident.
