    Lincolnshire's last remaining livestock market will be the subject of a crucial vote later.

    The site in Louth could be sold by East Lindsey District Council, bringing an end to generations of history in the town.

    But a public consultation found 84% of respondents wanted the market to remain open.

    The council's executive committee will meet at Louth Town Hall to vote, with the result expected to be rubber-stamped by the full council in a fortnight.

    Health bosses will make a final decision today on the future of a walk-in health centre in Lincoln.

    The NHS wants to close the centre on Monks Road because it says it doubles up on services.

    But thousands of people signed a petition to save it and the Lincoln MP Karen Lee has also voiced reservations about the closure.

    The ruling on closure will be made at a meeting at Rustons Sports Club in Lincoln which starts at 11:00..

  4. School stabbing: Teenage girl to appear in courtpublished at 09:04 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    A 16-year-old girl will appear in court today after being charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at a school in North Lincolnshire.

    The girl, who can't be named for legal reasons, was arrested after a 61-year-old member of staff was injured.

    The incident took place at Winterton Community Academy on Monday.

    A Lincolnshire market town is losing another bank.

    It's the last day for staff at the Natwest branch in Horncastle.

    Sleaford will lose its branch on Thursday and another will close in Lincoln next month.

    Natwest say it's because of changes to banking and fewer customers using local branches.

    The majority of staff who lost their jobs with changes at the Lincolnshire Co-op have found new work.

    That's according to the Chief Executive of the company, Ursula Lidbetter.

    More than 100 people were made redundant earlier this month with the closure of two distribution centres in Lincoln.

    But by the time of closure two out of three had secured a new position, according to the firm.

    There's a public consultation taking place on the future of a GP practice in Lincoln after the main GP there died.

    The Cliff House Medical Practice has two sites which operate out of Burton Road in uphill Lincoln and Gresham Street in the West End of Lincoln.

    The Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group is looking for someone else to come and take the practice on and as part of this, one proposal is to close what's provided in the West End and move it all to Burton Road.

    Today the first of two public meetings where the options are being explained and where patients can have a say.

    Avid fundraiser and former Liberal Democrat MP candidate for Lincoln David Harding-Price has raised almost £2,000 for a local charity, external after he shaved off his long hair and beard.

    Retired NHS nurse, radio presenter and Royal College of Nursing Council Member David Harding-Price received his crop on Friday, September 22 during the Lincoln City Radio race night.

    So far he has raised £1,935 for his charity MattDotCom, which helps raise money and provide technology for ill teenagers to deal with social and educational needs.

    A military historian who stole a Dambsuters log book has been ordered to pay thousands of pounds in compensation from the widow he took it from.

    Alexander Bateman, 49, has so far refused to say where the log book has gone.

    Bateman, from Harrow, was jailed for two years in February after he was found guilty of stealing the log book from 93-year-old Doris Fraser, the wife of the late Sgt John Fraser, who belonged to the famous Lincolnshire-based 617 Squadron.

    He'd originally told her he wanted to borrow the book for research in 1996 but lied repeatedly when asked to give it back.

    Now he's been ordered to pay £12,500, though the judge said that no financial value could possibly compensate the family, who have lost this connection with a hero.

    Lincoln City have lost their appeal against Billy Knott's red card against Notts County on Saturday.

    The midfielder will now miss three games starting at home against Barnet tonight, then the Grimsby and Chesterfield games.

    Manager Danny Cowley says it's terrible news for the player and club and he doesn't know what Billy could have done differently.

  19. New rare Sir Isaac Newton coin to be put into circulation at Woolsthorpe Manorpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    A rare 50 pence coin celebrating the 375th birthday of Sir Isaac Newton is being released into circulation at his birthplace in Lincolnshire.

    The 375 coins will go into tills at Woolsthorpe Manor to mark the achievements of the one time Master of the Royal Mint.

    The reverse of the coin is based on elements of Proposition 11, in Book One of Newton's Principia Mathematica.

    They were first introduced into general circulation in June 2017.

    Sir Isaac was appointed Warden of the Mint in 1696.

    A report he produced in 1717 helped to establish gold coin as the pre-eminent currency of the UK, paving the way for the introduction of the "gold standard".

    Commemorative editions of the coins in gold and silver are also available to buy from the gift shop at Woolsthorpe Manor, as well as directly from the Royal Mint website.

    I'll warn you now though - the gold one is going for £760!

    A cash-strapped police force has been criticised for spending money on a new logo which looks like it has been "knocked up on a home computer".

    Lincolnshire Police said the logo was designed in-house for just a few hundred pounds.

    Police chiefs said the branding aimed to show the force as forward thinking and was part of wider plans to secure a better government funding deal.

    The logo has been criticised for being an unnecessary waste of money.
