North East Lincolnshire Council is bidding for money to transform the Bradley Football Development Centre into a regional centre of football development excellence.
The council wants to install two new artificial turf pitches and extend the building.
Councillors say if agreed, the scale of the proposed facilities would be similar to those found in cities such as Sheffield and Liverpool.
A bid will now be submitted to the Football Foundation for £600,000.
Slowly but surely Lincolnshire is turning golden.

A body found next to the A15 near Barton is that of a 29-year-old woman who was reported missing.
Humberside Police said her body was discovered in a wooded area at the edge of a lay-by on the southbound side of the carriageway shortly before 04:00 BST.
Officers had been looking for the woman, who was from Hull, after she went missing and concerns were raised about her safety.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody.
Det Sup Grainne Casey says they are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.
Quote Message“Our officers located the body whilst undertaking enquiries following concerns raised around the safety and whereabouts of a 29-year-old woman from Hull. The cause of her death is yet to be determined and a post mortem examination will be conducted in due course.

A 16 year-old-girl has appeared before magistrates in Grimsby charged with attempted murder.
It's after a school welfare officer at Winterton Community Academy near Scunthorpe was stabbed on Monday.
Health bosses have confirmed the Lincoln Walk-In Centre on Monks Road is to close.
NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group chose to close the centre after the 2017 winter period at a public meeting earlier.
It comes after widespread opposition to the plans, with 94% of respondents to a consultation opposing the move.
Sarah-Jane Mills, chief operating officer at NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group, said in a statement: “Our responsibility as commissioners is to get the best healthcare outcomes for the most patients we can with the resources we have available.
“We completely understand people’s concerns but we believe this is the right thing to do as we seek to best serve our entire population."

It's happening on Saturday and raises money for the RNLI.

A police cordon is now in place.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

It's been confirmed that work on a new Premier Inn in Skegness will start in the new year.
The hotel giant has been in negotiations over a site on the seafront known as Pier Field for several years.
Developer KCS Developments, which is acting on behalf of the company, says preparations for the construction will begin in the next couple of weeks.
But the firm has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire it's unlikely the project will be complete in time for the 2018 summer season.

A woman's body has been found in North Lincolnshire, sparking a murder investigation.
Humberside Police said the body was discovered close to the A15 southbound carriageway near the Barton junction earlier on Wednesday morning.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody.
The victim is yet to be formally identified and a cordon has been put in place around the area while enquiries continue, the force said.

A woman was surrounded by a gang of youths on bikes and then pushed to the ground as they tried to rob her in Grimsby.
Police have just released information about the incident, and say the 50-year-old was walking along Victoria Street South when she was attacked.
The gang tried to steal her handbag, but rode away when they failed.
Police say anyone with information should call them on 101. The incident happened on Tuesday 19 September at around 16.00.
A 16-year-old girl has appeared at Grimsby Magistrates' Court charged with the attempted murder of a school welfare officer.
The girl was remanded in custody and will appear at Hull Crown Court on Friday.
She didn't enter a plea.
Joy Simon who works at the Winterton Academy near Scunthorpe is still recovering from her injuries after being stabbed on Monday.

The knights which formed a trail around Lincoln this summer to mark 800 years since a major battle will stay on public display for an extra day it's been announced.
They were dotted around the city centre as part of commemorations of the Battle of Lincoln in 1217 but have now been reunited at the castle.
