    Sugar factory

The EU's sugar quotas will be lifted at the weekend.

British Sugar, which has a factory at Newark, has welcomed the move and says it will mean they no longer have to stockpile

But some farmers have told the BBC in Lincolnshire they're worried they'll get less money for their crop.

The Chairman of the NFU's Sugar Board, Michael Sly, farms in south Lincolnshire.

He admits the prices Lincolnshire's beet farmers get for their crop could go down.

    Quote Message

The market, with this liberalisation, will be volatile they will go up and they will go down depending on the weather, the production in Europe and elsewhere. It'll be a new journey and roller coaster for us in the following years"

  13. Walk in centre closure: Health campaigners worriedpublished at 09:57 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    David Sykes
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Earlier I told you that Lincoln's NHS walk-in centre is set to close early next year.

It's been a controversial decision, in fact 94% of people opposed the closure in a consultation.

    Walk in centre meeting
    Quote Message

I think there is always going to be a minority of people that need immediate care that don't know the system and they should be able to access healthcare

    Elaine Smith, Health Campaigner

The centre will only shut if the health bosses at Lincolnshire West CCG can prove that people are aware of the other services they could use instead.

They say those services definitely exist, but they acknowledged that a lot of people don't know about them, and that's what they need to address before the walk-in centre can close.

  14. Louth's livestock market to staypublished at 09:14 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Last night East Lindsey District Councillors voted to save Louth's livestock market.

    Livestock Market

If was decided that the site, which was earmarked for sale, should be taken off the market.

But those operating the market have been told they must find ways of generating more income and parts of the land could also still be considered for development.

    Quote Message

I think everyone would agree that the site is currently underused, there's a market only one morning a week and the rest of the time the place is shut up. I think we've got to find a solution where that facility is used for a greater period of the week.

Adam Grist, East Lindsey District councillor

  15. Walk-in centre closure: We need to communicate alternatives to the publicpublished at 08:41 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

The Lincolnshire West CCG says the closure of the Monks Road site will go ahead once they're sure other health services in the city can cope, and that people are aware of the alternatives.

Shutting the centre will save the NHS almost £1m a year.

Dr Sunil Hindocha says they'll be working to raise awareness about alternative provision in the coming months, particularly with the student population who are the biggest users of the walk-in-centre

    Peter Rogers

Peter Rogers from Burgh le Marsh near Skegness (above) says too many predators are nesting on flats and churches. He says he's lost a dozen birds over the last few months.

But the RSPB says studies show that out of all racing pigeons that are lost only 14% are killed by birds of prey.
