    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

A Labour activist from Lincolnshire has been heckled at the party's conference after suggesting they'd failed to stand up to the government over Brexit.

    cameron clack

Cameron Clack, from Grantham and Stamford's Labour Party, told members that they would be remembered for letting the Tories do what they want with Brexit.

He said the party had "voted away your chance to stop this disastrous Brexit".

There's a mix of applause and boos as he declared: "We will be remembered as the opposition that let the Tories do what they want with Brexit."

  5. Support group for new mumspublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Melvyn Prior
    Presenter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Becoming a mum can be an exciting, daunting and challenging time.

But being alone all day with just a baby for company can be difficult for some mums.

That's why a group of mums in Stamford have established a new support group to help new parents cope.

    Quote Message

The difficulty with post-natal depression is actually feeling you're able to speak out about it because that's the most important step really to actually say, "I'm struggling. I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing, I'm lonely". Groups like mine enable mums to speak up and to realise that they're not the only ones facing this.

  6. School stabbing: New statement released by headteacherpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

The headteacher at Winterton Community Academy has released a further statement after a 61-year-old welfare officer was stabbed there this morning.

Gareth Morris said: "I would like to thank the parents and the community for the support they have shown at this extremely difficult time.

"You will no doubt be aware of who this member of staff was but for the purposes of the website I am not at liberty to name her here.

"I am, however, happy to report that her injuries are not life-threatening and she is as comfortable as she can be under these circumstances. Our thoughts are with her and her family at this time.

    Gareth Morris, headteacher

"As you can appreciate there are numerous factors and people to consider during times of adversity such as these. I acted at all times with the best interests of the students, staff and parents in mind; whilst taking advice from Humberside Police.

"School, as it was today, is open tomorrow and I am expecting all students to return in the morning."

  7. 'First ever' history of Lincolnshire WW1 batallionpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Melvyn Prior
    Presenter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

A Grantham man says he's written the first book to chronicle the history of a Lincolnshire batallion's struggles in WWI.

Historian Nigel Atter spent four years researching his book (pictured below) 'In the Shadow of Bois Hugo: The 8th Lincolns at the Battle of Loos', external.

It's now been taken on by a major military history publisher.

    BookImage source, Nigel Atter

Mr Atter says his account challenges established views about the Battle of Loos, which happened in France in 1915.

The reserves from the Lincoln regiment who fought in the battle are commonly thought to have "bolted" but Atter says they fought with "courage and resolution."

    Quote Message

At least one company stood and fought until they were almost completely out of ammunition, with all of their officers either dead or seriously wounded. Surrounded by Germans with machine guns, the surviving Lincolns were then captured, so we can see that rather than running away, the 8th Lincolns - and, more generally, the reserves - behaved, by and large, with courage and resolution.

Thieves smashed through the side window of the hall and stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods and caused a massive amount of damage to Village Church Farm.

They stole money from charity boxes, the tearoom till, and took a TV used to play information videos on.

They even stole tea bags and coffee tins.

It's the second time the museum has been targeted, they had a TV stolen in a break-in in August 2016.

    Quote Message

The volunteers there work so hard to make it the beautiful place that it is, it's heartbreaking when the time they give is ruined by heartless thieves.

The ball was at waist height so he had every right to go for it with his foot, but their player went bravely towards it with his head. Is that any less dangerous than lunging at a ball with your foot?

John McDonnell (pictured above) called her "brilliant" at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton today.

She won a round of applause for continuing to work as a nurse as well as an MP.

    Quote Message

This is a woman who wins the election, comes to parliament, takes her seat as an MP, she's a nurse, realises they might be short at the local hospital so goes back and does her shifts at the hospital. That's what I call a socialist.

  15. Smokers quit quittingpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

The success rate of Lincolnshire's stop smoking service has dropped by more than a third.

Quit 51, a council-funded service which helps people quit, says 1,600 people stopped smoking with their help in the past year.

Almost 2,500 people used their services in the previous year.

Public health experts at Lincolnshire County Council say it's because fewer people need their service.

    Quote Message

The prevalence rate of smoking is going down in the population as well, so there are fewer smokers and more smokers are doing things for themselves like using apps and vaping. In reality, we are finding that not as many people need help from us as in previous years.

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

  17. Train fight arrests after Lincoln matchpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Harry Parkhill
    BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire

Two men have been charged after a fight broke out on a train returning from a Lincoln City football match at the weekend.

British Transport Police attended an incident at Nottingham Railway Station and accompanied fans back to Lincoln.

Police say people were "aggressive" towards officers.

The disruption continued at Lincoln Railway Station, where barriers and other objects were thrown about the station.

    Quote Message

Those responsible for football related crime and disorder are in the minority, with 99% of football fans only interested in enjoying the beautiful game with their family and friends, but until the few stop committing crime, we will have to continue to spend significant taxpayers funds seeking to minimise the threat of crime and disorder.

One parent said she received a text message from her child saying students were locked in classrooms until after the incident.

  19. Standard of refereeing criticised by Lincoln City managerpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Su Whitaker
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire sport

Lincoln City's manager has been left frustrated at the standard of refereeing after a controversial red card at the weekend.

Imps Midfielder Billy Knott (pictured) was sent off for kicking a Notts County player in the face during their 4-1 defeat on Saturday.

But Lincoln City fans say Ryan Yates was trying to head a ball at chest height when Knott and him were vying for possession.

    Quote Message

You saw it, I'm not allowed to talk about referees. So I'm in an absolutely no win situation because if I speak about the referees then I'll be told off and heavily fined by the FA. But if we don't say anything then where does the level of refereeing improve?

Another man said that it's "becoming normal".

"I've been in Boston all my life, until I was 27, I never heard of anyone getting murdered. Never. It just didn't happen. I'm worried for my family growing up, my kids. We're thinking about moving," he said.
