A lurcher that was abandoned with a broken leg by hare coursers in Lincolnshire is now ready to find a new home.

The RSCPA rescued Red after a member of the public reported finding him tied up outside their home with plastic twine that was too short for him to lie down or even sit.

Inspectors took the dog to a vet for pain relief, but an x-ray revealed that his leg would have to be amputated.

Investigations revealed that hare courses had been active in the area at the time, and lurchers are commonly used by hare coursing gangs.

Despite appealing for information, the RSPCA has been unable to trace Red's former owner, but he is safe and well, and he's ready to be rehomed.

The charity is now advertising for a new home, ideally one without young children or small furry animals he might be tempted to chase.

    Quote Message

From the withdrawn, in pain, very tired boy we picked up, he is now full of energy and looking to find a home of his own."

Planning permission was granted for a 220 berth marina, hotel, restaurant and holiday cottages between the River Witham and Fiskerton Road.

But the developers have struggled to secure funding for the plans, and have had to find a more profitable plan.

Phil Scrafton from Globe Consultants says they're only proposing to build as many homes as are needed to build the marina and a footbridge over the Witham.

Members of the public can see the new proposals at Millennium Hall in Cherry WIllingham between 18:30 and 20:00 tonight and on Thursday.

Network Rail's plans for a new bridge over the Brayford Wharf crossing were rejected by the City of Lincoln Council because the bridge wouldn't be suitable for wheelchair users.

But it's been revealed that a planning inspector could hear the appeal before Christmas.

Lincolnshire County Council's portfolio holder for highways, Richard Davies says both sides are keen for the bridge to be built:

The charity Centrepoint Outreach says there's been a sharp rise in the number of migrants needing help with meals and support.

Many of the migrants are from countries in the European Union.

Boston has about 18,000 EU migrants, many of whom work in the agricultural industries.

Official figures suggest the number of homeless people rose from 38 people in April to more than 100 in August.

Farmers and food processors have previously expressed concern that they won't be able to get enough workers as a result of Brexit.

Health bosses are meeting today to decide whether to reopen Grantham A&E overnight.

    The entrance to Grantham A&E

The department has been closed overnight since August 2016 because of a shortage of doctors across Lincolnshire.

Last month, United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust said it now had enough doctors to safely staff A&E.

But campaigners are concerned that health bosses will only decide to reopen the service on a temporary basis:
