    You've probably had one of these; a letter through the post promising free entry into a prize draw for thousands of pounds or variations on that theme.

    Trading Standards officers in Lincolnshire have issued a new warning over scam mail after revealing that hundreds of people have altogether lost more than £2m in the past 18 months.

    The official estimate for the number of mail scam victims in Lincolnshire is 1,500.

    Today's warning comes after police revealed that two elderly people in Grantham were recently conned out of £11,000 in a telephone scam.

    The Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt promised to 'look very carefully' at the idea of restoring 24-hour services at Grantham Hospital's Accident and Emergency next month.

    The hospital's trust closed the unit overnight more than a year ago because a lack of doctors.

    In the Commons, the Sleaford and North Hykeham MP Dr Caroline Johnson said Grantham A&E is very important to local residents.

    Bathing waters along the east coast of Lincolnshire are amoung the very best in England.

    Latest statisitcs show all nine official swimming spots in the county achieved either 'good' or 'excellent' ratings.

    Skegness, Ingoldmells South, Chapel St Leonards, Anderby, Moggs Eye, Mablethorpe Town, Sutton-on-Sea and Humberston Fitties all achieved the highest grade of ‘excellent’, while Cleethorpes achieved the second best rating of ‘good’.

  5. Inquiry to decide on oil drilling well near Scunthorpepublished at 08:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2017

    Today is the last day of an inquiry which is looking into a decision to deny a company permission to drill for oil in a North Lincolnshire village.

    Egdon Resources had hoped to extract up to 700,000 barrels from a single oil well at a site in Wressle, estimated to be worth as much as £30m.

    The council have refused permission a number of times because they have environmental concerns.

    Egdon Resources say the process is safe.

    The ruling from the inquiry is expected to be made in the near future.

    A group representing fish businesses in Northern Lincolnshire says fish should be given special trade status after Brexit.

    90% of the fish coming into Grimsby's fish market is imported.

    Scott and Corazon have had to take a break.

    They've decided the only way to finish is by doing a relay.

    But Pudsey has still been around and he's been popping into schools along the route!

    Fraudsters posing as police officers have conned about £21,000 from elderly people in Lincolnshire in recent weeks.

    Lincolnshire Police said two 82-year-old women and an 81-year-old man had been tricked by criminals claiming to be investigating fraud.

    One victim handed over £10,000, another £7,000, and the third £4,000.

    Lincolnshire Police want your help investigating a burglary in Lincoln.

    The burglary happened between 22.00 on Sunday 12 November and 07.00 on Monday 13 November.

    Car keys were taken a property on Riverside Drive before leaving and taking the car at the front.

    Officers are asking if anyone has seen the car - a black Subaru Legacy with USA Indiana State number plates.

    It's proving to be tough going for the team, they've decided the only way they can finish is to make it a relay- so Su Whitaker from the Breakfast Show is walking the Bardney to Woodhall Spa leg, with Melvyn Prior then taking the baton and doing the final stretch to Horncastle.

    A teenager boy has been remanded into secure accommodation after being accused of having an air rifle and "bladed article" at a Lincolnshire school.

    The 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named, is charged with having a bladed article on a school premises and having an air rifle.

    The boy appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court today and was remanded until he next appears at court on 20 November.

    There was no application for bail.
