Lincolnshire Police are taking part in a two week firearms surrender.
Anyone with unwanted guns or ammunition can hand them in from today.
Lincolnshire Police is supporting the amnesty which allow anyone to dispose of a firearm or ammunition by handing it in at their local police station.
Officers say many people have guns that have been forgotten, and become unlicensed.
Superindendent Kieran English said for every firearm kept, there is the potential for it to fall into the wrong hands or cause harm.
The last national amnesty was held in 2014 when more than 6000 rifles, shotguns, antique guns and imitation firearms were were handed in across the country.
More than 130 of those were in Lincolnshire.
