Places like Liverpool, Manchester and Tees Valley all have a deal with the government which allows them to take charge for decisions which affect their area - and these deals have unlocked billions in additional funding.

A separate Sheffield City Region deal has already been agreed and a mayor for the region was elected in May.

Businesses believe any deal which includes the north of the Humber must include the south bank.

    Quote Message

Like most other businesses we're very supportive of the devolution concept but we do believe the fate of both banks of the Humber are tied together. So we think they should operate as one entity in whatever form of devolution that takes. Both banks of the Humber must be together."
