1. Transformation plans for 'landmark' Lincolnshire theatrepublished at 08:00 British Summer Time 7 June 2018

    Major plans to transform a Grade 2 listed building in Lincolnshire have been revealed.

    It's estimated the £3.5m project to repair and conserve Spilsby Theatre will be complete by late 2021.

    The Sessions House, a non-profit organsation which aims to preserve the building, says the theatre is "a Lincolnshire Landmark of national significance".

    The organisation will now be working on applications to funding bodies to get the money together.

    Architectural plans and drawings will be on show at the Spilsby Show on Sunday 8 July.

    Dairy farmers in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire say they're selling much more milk than they expected from vending machines and in glass bottles at the farm gate.

    Farmer believe the popularity of bottles is due to shoppers becoming more aware of the environmental damage of plastic.

    Though for a bottle to be better for the environment than a plastic carton it does have to be reused numerous times.

    Research by the BBC found 17 out of 20 UK dairies were selling more milk in traditional bottles.

    A car has flipped onto its roof near Scartho Top in Grimsby, following a collision.

    The driver has been taken to hospital but isn't thought to be seriously injured.

    Humberside Police says two other cars were also involved in the crash and a man's been arrested in connection with the incident.

    Drivers are being advised to avoid the area.

    A Lincolnshire councillor has warned body camera use should be properly monitored for people's safety.

    The warning comes after West Lindsey District Council bought 12 cameras, costing £7,500, for their officers to use in high-stress situations.

    Councillor Marianne Overton said there should be a proper consultation on the use of the devices and proper training for council staff.

    She added they should only turn the camera on when necessary, and the footage should be deleted after 31 days.

    The Seachill factory in Grimsby wants to double size of its' factory.

    Industry magazine Undercurrent News, external says the firm, which supplies fish to Tesco and Waitrose, is looking to increase by 50%.

    The fish processing company was sold to meat supplier Hilton Food Group in a deal worth £80m last year.

    Seachill employs more than 700 people, making it one of Grimsby's largest employers.

    Building 3,500 retirement homes over the next 15 years is being considered by North Lincolnshire Council today.

    The authority says by 2035, the number of over 65s in the area will be approaching 70,000.

    A number of solutions are being considered including the creation of retirement villages and using council-owned land for developments aimed at retired people.

    The government's been challenged to make it easier for Grimsby Hospital to hire foreign doctors.

    The Labour MP for Great Grimsby said the hospital is being forced to spend nearly £50,000 a month on fees for doctors' visas instead of spending it on patient care.

    Speaking during Prime Minister's Questions Melanie Onn added 85% of the visa applications had been rejected.

    She said the situation was a "waste of taxpayers' money" and is preventing people from accessing the doctors they need.

    The Prime Minister said the government was aware of the issue and is considering what action should be taken to address it.

    A headteacher has spoken out after one of her students reported repeated racist abuse.

    The teenager, who wears a hijab, told police she had been verbally abused by passing drivers, pedestrians and cyclists as she walked to school for several months.

    The girl attends LSST in Lincoln and its headteacher Jane Hopkinson said she was appalled at what had happened.

    "It is absolutely unacceptable that a young girl is walking in fear on her way to and from school because of racist behaviour in our community."

    Lincolnshire Police are appealing for help identifying those responsible, calling it "totally unacceptable".

    They say any offenders could be prosecuted for a public order offence.
