    All traffic heading to the M1 links from junction one on the M18 has been stopped after an accident earlier this morning.

    The closure is to help police investigate.

    Drivers are advised to join the M1 Southbound and turn at Junction 31 to return onto the M1 Northbound.

    A man made homophobic comments to a 14-year-old boy and then slapped him around the face in Lincoln.

    Police said the unprovoked assault took place at around 09:30 on Saturday on Lincoln High Street.

    The man walked off after slapping the boy, officers said.

    Lincolnshire Police have issued CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to about the incident.

    Two men have been arrested following a serious assault in Mablethorpe.

    A man in his 30's was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after being attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    A 22-year-old from Sutton-on-Sea was arrested yesterday and released under investigation.

    A 17-year-old, also from Sutton-on- Sea, was arrested today and is assisting officers.

    A man's been left seriously hurt after being attacked by six youths in Mablethorpe in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    The man, who's in his 30s, was assaulted in an alleyway in the Victoria and Admiralty Road area at about 01:00 yesterday.

    He was taken to Grimsby Hospital with a serious head injury and the police are treating it as grievous bodily harm.

    Anyone who was in the area or has any information is being asked to contact Lincolnshire Police.

    A group of MPs is to investigate the disruption on Northern rail services caused by the new timetables.

    There've been hundreds of delays and cancellations over the last two weeks.

    Northern is running an emergency timetable from today to try to stabilise services.

    The Transport Select Committee will review the situation and says it could lead to a full inquiry.

    There's very slow traffic in Lincoln today affecting many people's commutes.

    It's on the A15 Wragby Road westbound, by Outer Circle Road.

    There's also congestion on Westfield Drive to A158 Wragby Road East in the roadworks area.

    There are lane restrictions in place and traffic is diverting via the Carlton estate using Hawthorn Road causing delays.

    Lincolnshire is where people are most proud to say they are English, according to a BBC poll.

    In the survey, 70% of people in North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire said they were proud to be English.

    The poll, for the BBC's The English Question project, was conducted by YouGov and surveyed 20,081 people.

    It also found eight out of 10 people in England identify strongly as English, but pride varies by age.

    Heavy rain at the weekend led to people in parts of Lincolnshire ending up knee-deep in surface water on the streets.

    There were reports of flash flooding early on Saturday evening in Leadenham, Woodhall Spa, Brant Broughton and Coningsby.

    Katie Mase, who owns the Leadenham Teahouse, says it took them totally by surprise because just 10 miles down the road there were clear skies.

    She added they will now keep towels close by in case something like this happens again.

    Work starts today on refurbishing a leisure centre in Gainsborough.

    The £1.4m regeneration scheme will see the West Lindsey Leisure Centre turned into a Health and Wellbeing Hub.

    It's been controversial, though, after the local council decided to close the indoor bowls hall.

    The authority says the changes will mean more people can use the facilities.

    A man's been charged with attempted murder after a suspected stabbing in a supermarket car park in Grimsby.

    Humberside Police say the incident happened on Friday night.

    Andrew Mayes, 36, of no fixed address, is also charged with possession of a knife in a public place, police say.

    He is due to appear before Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates' Court later.

    More than £1m of funding has been awarded to tourism bosses in Lincolnshire to develop the county as a cycling hotspot.

    Visit Lincoln has been working with its counterparts at Welcome to Yorkshire, external on the project for 18 months and will see the county marketed to pedal-powered visitors in the UK and in Europe.

    The money will be spent on developing routes, as well as helping businesses such as hotels and cafes to introduce cycle-friendly facilities.

    Visit Lincoln says tourism is worth £1bn to the local economy and it hopes this new project will generate further revenue.
