    A man's been left with serious injuries following an assault in Immingham earlier today.

    It happened on Spring Street just after midnight.

    A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the incident and both remain in custody.

    Two men, who made amateur films in Louth during World War II, are to be featured in a new BBC documentary.

    The Lost Films of World War II will show how the two men, both named Bert, made newsreels and showed them at a Louth cinema.

    The documentary will be shown on BBC2 next year - marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of war.

    Campaign group Big Brother Watch has called the introduction of body cameras for West Lindsey District Council's officers an "intense invasion of people's privacy".

    The council has bought 12 cameras costing a total of £7,500 in a bid to deal with what the authority says is a growing number of threatening incidents.

    However, civil liberty campaigning group Big Brother Watch says there are privacy issues with the cameras' introduction:

  5. Three treated in hospital after Skegness crashpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 6 June 2018

    Three people were taken to hospital after a bus collided with a car in Skegness.

    The crash happened on Seaview Lane yesterday afternoon.

    The bus driver was airlifted to QMC in Nottingham with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

    The car driver and a passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

    The road was reopened by 20:00 last night.

    The Conservative MP for Boston and Skegness, Matt Warman, says everything possible is being done to safeguard services at the town's Pilgrim Hospital.

    A chronic shortage of staff is affecting paediatrics at the site, with Health Education England saying it will remove junior doctors from the children's unit in August unless more senior clinicians can be found.

    More than 2,000 women in Lincolnshire missed breast cancer screenings following an NHS error, it's been revealed.

    Last month, the government said almost half a million women had missed routine breast cancer check-ups after an IT error meant they were never sent letters inviting them to screening.

    New government figures now show just under 2,100 women in Lincolnshire have been contacted saying they were missed off.

    By far the highest number of letters have gone out in the Grantham and Stamford constituency, where 601 people have been contacted.

    A collection of 103-year-old chocolate bars which were part of a collection of World War One memorabilia up for auction in Scunthorpe yesterday netted over £3,000.

    The bars were found in a tin among a collection of items belonging to Leicestershire Regiment soldier Richard Bullimore.

    Troops serving in France during the first Christmas of World War One were given the Colonies Gift Tins.

    Just one of the 10 bars had been eaten.

  9. Council officers to wear body camspublished at 09:02 British Summer Time 6 June 2018

    Council officers at West Lindsey District Council are being given body cameras to use in high-stress situations.

    The council says they're being introduced in a bid to deal with a growing number of threatening incidents.

    Every day, officers will go into empty properties, do food inspections late at night or go into overcrowded houses.

    They also deal with issues to do with immigration, anti-social behaviour and drugs.

    The council says it's bought 12 cameras costing £7,500.

  10. Trust 'doing everything' to keep children's ward openpublished at 08:26 British Summer Time 6 June 2018

    The trust which runs Boston's Pilgrim Hospital says it remains its intention to keep children's services running.

    The reassurance comes as Health Education England says it will withdraw its junior doctors from paediatrics in August unless more senior clinicians are recruited to train and support them.

    Dr Neill Hepburn, Medical Director at United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, said: "We are working hard to recruit staff and no final decision has yet been made.

    "We are doing everything we can to maintain children's services at Pilgrim, in addition to working up temporary proposals to put in place should the staffing situation remain precarious."

    Plans for a sculpture to celebrate past and present Scunthorpe steelworkers have been submitted by North Lincolnshire Council, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

    The proposed sculpture shows a male and female steelworker, dressed in clothing from the 1940s, walking up the High Street away from the steelworks.

    It also aims to highlight the role women played in the industry, particularly during World War II.

    The council is seeking planning permission to erect the statue outside The Foundry Shopping Centre.

  18. Work restarts on seaside 'ghost town'published at 16:54 British Summer Time 5 June 2018

    Work has resumed at a housing estate dubbed a "ghost town" after it was abandoned following the financial crash in 2010.

    Planning permission for the properties on Alford Road, Sutton-on-Sea, was granted more than a decade ago.

    But after completing a handful of houses the developer Kier walked away in 2010, leaving a large area surrounded by security fencing, rubble and boarded up houses.

    People living in the area say it became a target for vandals.

    Kier says work has resumed and is progressing well - the first properties will go on sale this summer.

    A further three 24-hour strikes by workers at train operator Northern will take place this month in a dispute over driver-only-operated trains, the RMT union has confirmed.

    The action will take place on 19, 21 and 23 June, with the RMT saying “the failure to reach a solution to this dispute to date is solely down to the company and the union remains ready for genuine and meaningful talks".

    The company has denied the switch would hit passenger safety and has previously said it want's "constructive" discussions with the union.
