    The latest NHS blue print for healthcare in the county hasn't gone down well with Shropshire Council.

    Until now it has been a supporter of the review of health services in the county, but the authority says it hasn't endorsed the Sustainability and Transformation Plan, external and has doubts about its financial projections.

    Like Telford and Wrekin Council, it says: "more resources should be put into prevention and reconfiguration of community and primary care services, rather than reconfiguration of hospital services."

    The £1.3m Shropshire Council is getting to fix potholes next year will fill a lot of holes - 25,200, by the government's estimates.

    This year it received a little over £1m, enough to fill 19,547.

    But, the authority has been left wanting more, because it believes £1.5m is needed to fix all the pot holes in the area.

    Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in Shropshire tonight and the council gritting lorries will be going out later.

    Both Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin councils say they will concentrate on the main A and B roads and are promising to put out updates via Twitter.

    The authorities say they will also grit entrances to important buildings like schools and hospitals and the main routes into towns and villages.

    Some footpaths and cycle routes are also gritted.

    Instead they are among 11 "non-constituent" members, with less power than the full members.

    Members of a Ludlow amateur theatre group are pinching themselves after a professional opera singer agreed to direct their winter production.

    Kim Begley agreed to direct Two Score Theatre's "All the World's a Stage" after he was approached by group member Peter Hayter.

    The RAF museum at Cosford has had a delivery of three new aircraft, to add to its collection.

    They all saw service in the World War Two and are being transferred up from its sister-museum in London.

    The Boulton Paul Defiant (above) was made just down the road in Pendeford and belonged to a Polish RAF squadron.

    The other two aircraft are a Gloster Gladiator (below left) and a Westland Lysander (below right) and once they are assembled they will all go on display.

  15. Date set for Big Busk music festivalpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Next year's Big Busk music event in Shrewsbury will take place on 1 April, in and around the town centre.

    The free street music festival raises money for, and awareness of, the Shrewsbury Ark, a drop-in centre for homeless and vulnerable people in the town.

  16. Evans to learn her new UKIP role tomorrowpublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Shrewsbury politician Suzanne Evans will have to wait until tomorrow to hear which job the new UKIP leader is going to offer her.

    She was beaten by Paul Nuttall in the party's leadership election, but said it was "very important" that she stood and that she was "very very grateful" for the support she got from members.

    The former deputy party chairman stood as UKIP's candidate for Shrewsbury at the last general election and said she would never have forgiven herself if she hadn't stood for the party leadership.

    AFC Telford United had hoped for a home draw in the 1st round proper of the FA trophy, so they could generate more money through the turnstiles.

    But they've been drawn to make the short trip to local rivals Kidderminster Harriers.

    Shropshire Council is seeking legal advice about whether to carry on the fight against new homes on the outskirts of Ludlow. 

    The local authority had thrown out the application for 137 homes off Foldgate Lane, but a planning inspector subsequently gave it the go-ahead. 

    Now Ludlow Town Council and Ludford Parish Council say they've written to Shropshire Council urging it to appeal. 

    They argue that the development would completely undermine the local housing plan set up to determine housing needed for the next 10 years and that it's entirely unsuitable for the area.

    After breaking the Welsh Premier League record for consecutive wins at the weekend, The New Saints might have their eye on the European record next.

    According to UEFA, external, that honour is held by the Portuguese side Benfica, who recorded 29 straight victories in domestic competitions between 1971 and 1973. 

    That was a side which included Eusebio (pictured below).

    TNS currently have 18 consecutive wins in domestic competition, when you include their two wins in the Welsh League Cup.
