More details are expected later on the future of Shropshire's health services.

The county's so-called Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP), drawn up by health bodies and local authorities, could be published today.

It could kick-start plans to downgrade one of the county's A&E units, though it's not clear whether a firm recommendation for which one will lose services would be made before a public consultation after Christmas.

The STP will be a far wider programme, which aims to move tens of thousands of outpatient appointments from Telford and Shrewsbury into community hubs around the county, and bring about much closer working between physical, mental health and social services.

  3. Football: Shrewsbury stay bottom after drawpublished at 09:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    BBC Sport

League One's bottom club Shrewsbury picked up a point from a goalless draw at home to Port Vale.

Both teams had chances in a tight first half, with the best opportunity for the hosts' side falling to Junior Brown, who fired over after goalkeeper Jak Alnwick blocked an effort from Vale old boy AJ Leitch-Smith.

Defences continued to hold the upper hand in the second half as deadlock ensued.

Skipper Adam El-Abd came closest for Shrewsbury when his close-range effort from Brown's inviting left-wing cross was well kept out by Alnwick.
