The former England batsman, James Taylor, will be coming back to Shropshire next month, to pass on some advice at a coaching conference.
Taylor went to Shrewsbury School and played for Shrewsbury before joining Leicestershire and then Nottinghamshire - he will be at Ellesmere College on 25 February.
He was forced to retire from the game last year, aged just 26, because of a serious heart condition.
As well as giving a talk to the conference, he will be running the coaches through some warm-up games and practice routines he has learnt.
The twin sister of the sexual violence campaigner Jill Saward has been speaking at her funeral this afternoon and talking about their close friendship.
Sue Lancaster said her sister's rape in 1986 changed the lives of their whole family, but praised her for speaking out on the subject and waving her right to anonymity, saying that because of her efforts, "many, many people are alive today".
Ms Lancaster talked about their childhood and said her sister liked culture, unusual trousers and classical music and that Jill's three children were "so special to her".
Jill Saward lived for a time in Telford and died last week, aged 51.
The North Shropshire MP, Owen Paterson, who campaigned hard for Britain to leave the EU, says he is pleased that Theresa May has ruled out staying in the European single market after Brexit.
In a speech, the Prime Minister said that staying in the single market would mean accepting the EU's rules without having any say in making them.
Mrs May also warned that any attempt by the EU to seek a punitive deal with Britain would be an act of calamitous self-harm.
Mr Paterson said the "real long-term future" for Britain was trading with the rest of the world.
Quote MessageWe made it absolutely clear during the (Brexit) campaign that meant leaving the single market with all its constraints and burdens, but wanting to do free trade with Europe and with the rest of the world."

If planning permission is granted for a "burial mound" near Wem, it won't be the first in the country and we've been finding out how this long barrow might look.
The idea is to use it as a final resting place for people's ashes.
A fire which damaged two cars and a static caravan near Oswestry is thought to have been started deliberately, police say.
It happened close to the White Lion at Llynclys between 21:00 and 22:00 yesterday.

A merger of nine Telford doctor's surgeries will be smaller than originally planned, because Dawley medical practice is backing out of the scheme.
The Teldoc "super surgery", planned to serve over 50,000 people, is being set up to make it easier for patients to get an appointment and to cut administration costs, the practices taking part say.
The withdrawal of the Dawley practice will cut that down to 40,000 people, but the eight remaining practices still plan to go ahead with the merger.

Telford and Wrekin Council wants a say in who chairs the independent review of proposals for the future of Shropshire's hospitals.
The original NHS recommendations, external, which included the downgrading of Telford's A&E department, were called into question by the authority at the end of last year and as a result the NHS agreed to an independent review.
But the authority is insisting the review is chaired by an independent expert and says it has concerns about the impartiality of someone appointed by the NHS.
Quote MessageFuture Fit appear to want to plough ahead and appoint on their terms a review and an 'independent person' to lead this review. To many people here, that’s like putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop.”

Disability rights campaigners from Shropshire have failed to persuade appeal judges to reconsider their case against a change to assisted dying legislation.
Merv and Nikki Kenward, from Aston-on-Clun, say alterations to wording by the Director of Public Prosecutions would make it less likely that healthcare professionals will be prosecuted for helping someone to die.
Mrs Kenward uses a wheelchair and says vulnerable people are at risk from what she calls "dodgy doctors".
The high court rejected their challenge in 2015, and today two senior judges said it would be "futile" to take the matter to the Appeal Court.
