    Shrewsbury Town have signed the young West Bromwich Albion striker Tyler Roberts on loan. 

    The 18-year-old has already been out on loan this season at Oxford United and the League One club were keen to keep him.

    Severn Trent Water is working with farming students on ideas to tackle water pollution along the River Severn. 

    Pesticides, fertiliser and even soil can cause problems when washed from fields into the river. 

    Now agricultural students from local colleges are working with the water company to solve pollution problems along the river.

    A pair of disability rights campaigners from Shropshire are hoping appeal court judges will allow them to once again challenge legislation surrounding assisted dying.

    Merv and Nikki Kenward, from Aston on Clun, are in London seeking permission to appeal against a high court ruling handed down in 2015.

    The Kenwards say a change in wording by the Director of Public Prosecutions makes it less likely that healthcare professionals will be prosecuted for helping someone to die. 

    Mrs Kenward uses a wheelchair and says vulnerable people are at risk from what she calls "dodgy doctors".

    Campaigners in the county have written to the health minister and Ludlow MP Philip Dunne to ask him to look at the money the NHS gets to spend here.

    They argue more is needed because Shropshire gets 10% less per person to spend on healthcare than the national average.

    For the year 2020-2021, Shropshire Council area and Telford and Wrekin will jointly receive £1,768 per person - that's £206 less than the national average of £1,974 per person.

    They're off the menu for patients after the hospitals tried to renegotiate their contract with a supplier, who refused to accept a new payment schedule.

    Martin James said he could see things from the supplier's point of view: "Can't really blame the sandwich supplier for not agreeing to delay payment, they have to pay their suppliers, staff and overheads for running business."

  9. Burial mound could be built near Wempublished at 10:15 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2017

    For the first time in over a thousand years, a burial mound could be built in Shropshire. 

    The owners of Soulton Hall and farm near Wem are working with the company Sacred Stones to create a stone chamber covered in earth which would be a memorial space to store people's ashes.

    Similar mounds have already been built in Wiltshire and in Cambridgeshire, and another is about to be built in Herefordshire.

    If planning permission is granted, the long barrow could be built by the end of this year.

    A group of bus users have created a map which traces every bus route in the county.

    It is being made available online through the Bus Users Shropshire, external website and printed copies are being distributed to bus stations in Telford and Shrewsbury and to libraries.

    Peter Gilbert of Bus Users Shropshire said the research and map drawing had been "an ordeal" but he was pleased with the final result.

  13. Funeral of sexual violence campaigner Jill Sawardpublished at 09:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2017

    The funeral of sexual violence campaigner, Jill Saward, will take place at Lichfield Cathedral later. 

    The 51-year-old, who lived in Telford in the 1990s, died earlier this month and was the first sexual violence victim to waive her right to anonymity. 

    She was attacked during the high profile "Ealing vicarage rape" case in 1986 and campaigned for many years on behalf of other victims.
