    The company says pipes this size don't often rupture and repairing it is a big job.

    Firefighter Tom Barlow has been walking 23 miles in full kit today, to raise money for Severn Hospice.

    The 24-year-old was inspired to do it after losing his mum Debbie last year after her five-year battle with ovarian cancer.

    Severn Trent is preparing to open up another collection point for bottled water, with work to fix the burst water pipe in Telford set to continue into the night.

    It is already handing them out in Madeley, Ironbridge and Much Wenlock and from 18:00 it will be offering the free bottles at the Birchmeadow Centre in Broseley too.

    The water company is also using tankers to pump water into the network, to keep other homes supplied until the broken pipe can be fixed.

    The sacking of Oldham's John Sheridan shows a football manager's job can change "very quickly" the Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst, has said.

    Bottom-of-the-table Oldham parted ways with Sheridan after a 5-1 defeat to Rotherham at the weekend, but Hurst says the pressure is always there - even if you are top of the league.

    People have been coming to the defence of water company Severn Trent, after the Wrekin MP tweeted to say the company faces "lots of questions" over the major pipe-burst in Telford.

    Severn Trent says it will be midnight at the earliest before it can repair the burst water pipe in Telford which has left thousands without water today.

    And the company says that even when it is fixed, it will have to flush debris out of the pipe, chlorinate it and restore the water pressure.

    Severn Trent is hoping to bring in more tankers in the meantime, to restore water to some of the 2,500 homes still affected.

    She discovers why the coracle was the ideal boat for poaching in the 18th and 19th centuries.

    It was especially popular for poaching in Shropshire in the Ironbridge area.

  13. Family facing 'challenging times' after death of boypublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    The father, step-mum and brother of a seven-year-old boy found dead at Wall-under-Heywood last week say they are "facing challenging times" while they "come to terms with this devastating loss".

    Archie Spriggs's body was discovered at a house on Rushbury Road last Thursday and a 44-year-old woman, named locally as Lesley Speed and believed to be the mother of Archie Spriggs, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

    She is still receiving medical treatment in hospital, for injuries to her neck and arm.

    There's going to be a showing of The Blair Witch Project in the woods on Haughmond Hill this Halloween.

    The 1999 horror film which launched the "found footage" movie genre will be shown along with a short horror film.

    The organisers are advising people to dress up warm and bring something to sit on.

    If you're really feeling brave you're even being allowed to film in the woods, as long as you don't film the movie itself.

  15. Judo player sets sights on Olympic medalpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Telford's Kelly Edwards says she is targeting a judo medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and believes her recent injuries have made her a stronger person.

    She is off to a training camp in Israel shortly, before competing in the Abu Dhabi grand slam event at the end of October and said, "I've developed far more from the knock-backs and the challenges."

    Edwards also said the Great Britain judo squad was one of the strongest they've had for a long time and that it was an "exciting time for British judo".

    The loss of water to thousands of homes around Telford is having all sorts of consequences.

    Schools have been closed, people are taking showers in leisure centres and it's meant a few toilets have gone un-flushed this morning.

    About 1,000 more homes have been reconnected to mains water, Severn Trent says, external.

    At one point some 20,000 homes in Telford were affected, but now only 2,500 are believed to be still without water.

    About 10 schools were closed this morning because of the problems caused by a massive rupture in a mains pipe over the weekend.

    Bowsers have been brought in and bottled water is being handed out to residents.

    Play equipment at the Donnington Lifelong Learning Centre is going to be improved, with the support of the SUEZ Communities Trust., external

    The organisation, which redistributes money raised through the Landfill Tax, external, is giving Telford and Wrekin Council £21,000.

    It will be spent on a new seesaw, roundabout, swings and climbing frame and they should all be in place by the end of November.

  19. Most GP appointments unaffected by water losspublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Doctors appointments at most GP practices around Telford have been unaffected by the loss of water this morning, the Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group has said.

    It is still waiting to get an update from Woodside Medical Practice, but the CCG said the others all had water and were operating as normal.

  20. Specialist repair equipment to fix burst water pipepublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    More than 3,500 people are still without water in Telford, while Severn Trent works to fix a major breakage in a pipe.

    The water company says it has a 21-tonne piece of equipment has arrived from Derby, under police escort, to help with the repairs.
