  2. Leisure centre showers offered to people without waterpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    People in Telford who are still without water, because of the mains burst, are being told they can go and take a shower in a council-run leisure centre, until the water comes back on.

    The Horsehay Golf and Fitness Centre , externaland the Phoenix Sports and Leisure Centre, external will both be opening their doors to people in affected areas.

  5. Doctor and dentist appointments could be affected by water losspublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    People in areas of Shropshire affected by the burst water pipe are being urged by Severn Trent to call and check with their doctor or dentist if they had an appointment this morning.

    The water company has set up three distribution points to hand out over 120,000 litres of bottled water and says customers who are still getting water might find it is looking murky as it comes out the taps.

    And it has posted a video on Youtube, external, apologising for the inconvenience.

  6. Ice hockey: Tigers suffer first defeat of seasonpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Telford Tigers have suffered their first defeat of the season - beaten 4-1 in the Autumn Cup by Swindon Wildcats last night.

    But, they continued their winning start in the league, with a hard-fought 5-3 win over the Solway Sharks on Saturday.

    The win over the Sharks puts Telford on top of the NIHL North Division 1 table.

    Severn Trent is now handing out bottled water in Much Wenlock, to help those affected by the mains water burst.

    This new collection point is at the William Brookes School.

    Severn Trent is also handing out free bottled water at Tesco in Madeley and at the Museum of the Gorge car park in Ironbridge.

  8. Cause of huge water main rupture a mysterypublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Water supplier Severn Trent has asked customers to be patient as engineers work to fix a seven-foot burst in a pipe in Telford.

    The company says it doesn't yet know why the 21-inch pipe broke, but believes it may be something to do with the pressure of water flowing down it.

    Spokesman Jonathan Smith said incidents like this are extremely rare, adding: "This is not something that we do every day of the week, 21 inch water pipes do not rupture with a seven foot piece coming out of it."

    The company has promised to get the pipe, which is four metres below the ground, fixed as soon as possible.

    AFC Telford United manager Rob Edwards says his team need to stop making defensive errors if they're to fulfil their potential.

    Only three teams have conceded more goals than The Bucks in the National North this season and they shipped another three in losing to Chorley on Saturday.

  10. Road safety groups criticise 'nodding' driverspublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Road safety campaigners in Telford say drivers haven't taken enough notice of harsher penalties for using phones at the wheel.

    The TTC group runs awareness courses, which some offenders can pay to go on, to avoid six penalty points and a £200 fine.

    It's concerned about a practice called "nodding" where drivers keep their phones in their laps and occasionally look down instead of keeping their eyes on the road.

    The Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst has again praised his top-of-the table team.

    The League One leaders drew 1-1 with a team tipped for promotion in Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and travel to Doncaster Rovers tomorrow night.

    They're still unbeaten and three points ahead of second placed Peterborough.

  13. Repairs continue in Telford as thousands are left without waterpublished at 08:29 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Work to repair a seven-foot-wide hole in a water pipe in Telford, which has left thousands of people without water, continues this morning.

    The leak is mainly affecting customers in the TF7, TF3, TF4 and TF8 areas with some households in Much Wenlock also experiencing low pressure.

    The pace of repair work has been slower than expected due to poor weather conditions, but free bottled water is being distributed at Tesco in Madeley and at the Museum of the Gorge car park in Ironbridge.
