    Ipswich Town currently play their football in the EFL Championship, and from next year, the Ipswich Witches will compete in Speedway Great Britain's Championship.

    The sport has undergone something of a revamp,, external with details unveiled today at the third and final day of the British Speedway Promoters Association AGM.

    The top flight, formerly known as the Elite League, has been rebranded as the Premiership, while the Championship is in essence the former Premier League.

    Ipswich will race in the Championship along with Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Peterborough, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Sheffield and Workington.

    The uncle of a missing Suffolk serviceman has taken to social media to accuse Suffolk Police, external of failing to follow up leads. 

    Tony Wringe has made the comments on Facebook, external about the investigation into Corrie Mckeague, who hasn't been seen since 24 September.

    He disappeared without trace since being filmed on CCTV in Bury St Edmunds town centre after a night out.

    Tony Wringe has stated there's a lack of trust in the management of the case by Suffolk Police. 

    "It is our summary that Corrie has disappeared against his will, a 3rd party is involved,2 he posted.

    "There are numerous leads that have not been followed up and evidence that has not been effectively processed."  

    However Suffolk Police say lots of work has been done behind the scenes, and all possibilities are being investigated, external, but that no clear line of inquiry has emerged.

    Lowestoft Town, external have announced kick-off or date changes to three of their forthcoming fixtures.

    Because of Enfield Town's FA Trophy commitments the Trawler Boys proposed trip to north London a week on Saturday has been switched to Tuesday, 10 January.

    Grays Athletic will now come to Crown Meadow on Saturday, 12 November instead.

    Lowestoft's New Years Eve fixture at Harrow Borough has been brought forward to a 13:00 kick-off.

    Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick has only just returned to full fitness, but that has not stopped Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill from adding the 28-year-old to his latest squad.

    The international break will therefore be something of a nervy one for Blues manager Mick McCarthy, who will be hoping that arguably his best player does not suffer yet another injury. 

    "He might not play of course but it's up to him to look after himself and know his limits during training," McCarthy said. "Let's hope and pray that he comes back fit.

    "I've got no issues with the call-up though. He's a good player and I'd have done exactly what Martin did."

    After being absent for the first time this season last weekend, Ipswich defender Jonas Knudsen is set to return to the starting line-up at Sheffield Wednesday.

    The 24-year-old's recovery from a back injury means Myles Kenlock will drop out of the team, but manager Mick McCarthy says the 19-year-old, along with fellow full-back Josh Emmanuel, has done nothing wrong. 

    "Those two are now trusted as first team players by the rest of the first team and that's the acid test for them," McCarthy said. 

    "But the back four that has served us well and kept five clean sheets in seven games before Newcastle deserves to continue."

    Suffolk Saxons, external chairman Richard Hunt has told BBC Suffolk Sport how pleased he was to secure the services of head coach Anthony Clark (pictured).

    Hunt says the 39-year-old's enthusiasm for the whole Saxons project was one of the reasons he got the job.

    "It's much more than just a head coach. We wanted a real ambassador for the game in this county and he's been an inspiration so far," he said.

    He missed out on Euro 2016 during the summer, but Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick has earned a recall to the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Austria.

    McGoldrick has only just returned to action for the Blues after more than two months on the sidelines with an injury, and scored a wonder goal to rescue a point for Mick McCarthy's side last weekend.

    "I've only played one full game since coming back and got the call straight away," McGoldrick enthused. "It's another confidence boost to get that from a manager like Martin O'Neill.

    "It's going to be hard to get in the Ireland team, but I've got every confidence that I'll score goals if I get a run of games."

    He was back on the scoresheet for the first time in more than two months last weekend, but Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick admitted that the feeling at full time was one of frustration.

    The 28-year-old has also been telling us at a press conference he was not surprised by the chants and jeers aimed towards manager Mick McCarthy by Town supporters, following last week's 2-2 draw with Rotherham at Portman Road.

    "It's a bit tense at the club at the minute and I can see why," McGoldrick said. "We have passionate fans who want the best for their team.

    "I think we're victims of the success we've had in recent seasons [sixth and seventh placed finishes]. 

    "We're still on the same budget we had back then, but the fans pay their money and they've got every right to voice their opinions."

    Redbridge player William Drake (pictured) appeared in court in Ipswich yesterday and has to pay compensation and costs amounting to £1,285.

    "The [Redbridge] players were finding it difficult to handle AFC Sudbury that afternoon, which resulted in them becoming very agitated and a player getting sent off," said Mr Warr.

    "This was a blatant case of assault - the player just lost his temper completely. 

    "If you did on that on the streets, you would end up in a court of law and I don't see any difference if a player assaults another one or an official. 

    "I can understand in these matches there is so much emotion on show, and we just need to calm down and remember it's only a football match."

    The director of the a football club says the fines and costs handed out yesterday to a visiting player for assault, threatening behaviour and criminal damage should send a message out to others.

    Redbridge FC's William Drake, 27, of Canning Town in east London, has to pay a total of £1,285 after getting sent off, punching a steward and setting of a fire extinguisher at a Ryman League match at AFC Sudbury in February.

    "As a footballer he should no better than that.. with young people sitting in the stand... it was quite appalling really."

    There's been a slight fall in the number of unhealthy children in Suffolk. 

    Figures released by the NHS show that 31.3% of year 6s (10-11 year olds) are classed as being overweight or obese, a fall of 0.6% over the last year. 

    67.9% of year 6s the county are said have a healthy weight, while less than 0.8% are underweight.
