Summary

  1. field goal

Field goal - Bengalspublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 7 September

    Cincinnati Bengals 17-16 Cleveland Browns

The Bengals intercepted a deep shot by Joe Flacco and although they couldn't turn it into a touchdown, Evan McPherson kicked a 35-yard field goal to put the visitors back in front.

  2. touchdown

Touchdown - Jaguarspublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 7 September

    Carolina Panthers 3-17 Jacksonville Jaguars

Travis Etienne Jr. bursts through down the middle to make a 71-yard run for the Jaguars, before Brian Thomas Jr. gets in from nine yards to extend the Jags' lead.

Travis Hunter didn't score the touchdown but you wouldn't think so, the way he's celebrating on the sideline and the smile on his face. He's loving it.

  3. touchdown

Touchdown - Steelerspublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 7 September

Pittsburgh Steelers 31-26 New York Jets

The Jets doing Jets things! I take no responsibility for even mentioning the play-offs when they were comfortably in the lead....

But just to prove a point, the Jets then fumble the kick-off after the last touchdown, and just two plays later Aaron Rodgers throws his fourth touchdown of the day, to Calvin Austin, to put the Steelers in the lead.

  4. touchdown

Touchdown - Steelerspublished at 20:26 British Summer Time 7 September

Pittsburgh Steelers 24-26 New York Jets

Of course not! This is the New York Jets we're talking about and they're wobbling now as Aaron Rodgers finds Jaylen Warren to get Pittsburgh back to within a couple of points at Metlife Stadium.

  5. The end of the drought?published at 20:24 British Summer Time 7 September

The Jets have gone 14 years without making the play-offs - which is not only the longest drought in the NFL but the joint longest drought in all of American professional sports alongside the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL.

Could this finally be the year? They're not doing too bad so far....

  6. Wilson takes a big hitpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 7 September

New York Giants 3-14 Washington Commanders

You can say a lot of things about Russell Wilson, but you can't doubt his bravery as he shows again by standing in the pocket and throwing a depp ball just before being completely cleaned out by a pass rusher - taking a big hit.

It helps when you have an elite receiver like Malik Nabers, who hangs in the air for ages before collecting the ball for a big gain.

    Great football all round.

  7. Hunter makes first play on defencepublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 7 September

    Carolina Panthers 3-10 Jacksonville Jaguars

They're back under way in Florida and Travis Hunter is in at cornerback, helping to complete a tackle before the Panthers are forced to punt.

  8. touchdown

Touchdown - Coltspublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 7 September

    Miami Dolphins 0-30 Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts added a field goal on their only possession of the third quarter and after a 15-play drive in the fourth, Daniel Jones claims his second touchdown on a quarterback sneak.

The Colts are now 30 points up and the Dolphins are on course for a shutout.

  9. touchdown

Touchdown - Jetspublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 7 September

Pittsburgh Steelers 17-26 New York Jets

Quarterback Justin Fields keeps it himself to drive over from two yards away to increase the lead for the Jets - who really are motoring now on offence.

Breece Hall ripped off a couple of nice runs before Garrett Wilson caught a 21-yard pass and almost scored. Fields then punched it in - annoying if you've got WIlson in fantasy, great if you took a punt on Fields (which let's face it not many of you will have!)

Also, more importantly, great news for the Jets who look well balanced and are making the most of their two stars - Wilson has 95 yards receiving and a touchdown and Hall has 126 total yards, 88 of them rushing.

  10. touchdown

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 7 September

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-10 Atlanta Falcons

Tampa Bay missed a field goal at the start of the second half but no matter.

The Bucs forced the Falcons to punt before Baker Mayfield found Bucky Irving for a 10-yard touchdown.

  11. Jags' game set to resume after weather delaypublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 7 September

    Carolina Panthers 3-10 Jacksonville Jaguars

After a delay of nearly an hour, the Jacksonville Jaguars' game at home to the Carolina Panthers is set to resume in 10-15 minutes.

  12. touchdown

Touchdown - Raiderspublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 7 September

Las Vegas Raiders 14-10 New England Patriots

I've drafted Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty in fantasy this year, so it's a huge surprise to see him actually doing good things on his debut - like bounding over for his first NFL touchdown.

There's a bit of Marshawn Lynch abnout Jeanty's running style, especially in his short touchdown run tonight - and Pete Carroll knows all about Lynch and how to use him from his days in Seattle.

This kid is one to watch this year.

  13. Getting chippypublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 7 September

Just a few nerves getting frayed tonight with teams just really eager to get going this season. We've seen some handbags in the Steelers game at the Jets and it's also been a bit spicy at the Commanders versus the Giants.

The games are always spicy in the NFC East though aren't they?

  14. field goal

Field goal - Cardinalspublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 7 September

Arizona Cardinals 20-10 New Orleans Saints

Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland boots a 50 yarder to make it a 10-point game in New Orelans after a fine 52-yard run by Trey Benson.

We're not expecting too much from the Saints this year but this is still a good performance by Arizona, who have a balanced attack so far with 103 rushing yards and 122 in the air.

And as yet they're not sending Kyler Murray out on too many runs - he's such a talent but has been beaten up a bit at times, best save that electric running ability for when they really need it.

  15. touchdown

Touchdown - Brownspublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 7 September

    Cincinnati Bengals 14-16 Cleveland Browns

Cleveland quarterback Joe Flacco caps a 69-yard drive at the start of the second half by firing a dart down the middle for Cedric Tillman to claim a six-yard touchdown and put the Browns in front for the first time.

  16. ouch!

Ouch! - Tagovailoa intercepted againpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 7 September

    Miami Dolphins 0-20 Indianapolis Colts

It's going from bad to worse for Miami.

Tua Tagovailoa floats a hopeful pass down the middle and it's easy for Laiatu Latu to pick off.

The Dolphins quarterback has now given up two interceptions and lost a fumble.

  17. Postpublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 7 September

Las Vegas Raiders 7-10 New England Patriots

The Radiers missed a long field goal at the end of the first half to go in behind at Foxborough, but it was a pretty solid half from Pete Carroll's side really.

Not a bad effort from the Patriots too - in one of those games where both sides are just figuring out who they are under their new head coaches.

  18. Half-time recappublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 7 September

The New York reunion between Aaron Rodgers, Justin Fields and their former teams has lived up to the hype.

Rodgers has claimed his first two touchdown passes with the Pittsburgh Steelers while Justin Fields has produced a nice touchdown pass of his own, helping the Jets to a 19-17 lead at half-time.

Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts are dominating against the Miami Dolphins, and Travis Hunter has made his first NFL reception, although the Jaguars' game is currently suspended.

  20. Super Bowl challengers?published at 19:37 British Summer Time 7 September

Ian Rapoport breaks down what teams need to be in shape to win a Super Bowl.

On our new BBC NFL show The Whole 10 Yards, one of our star guests Ian Rapoport gives us his thoughts on which teams in a Super Bowl window.

One of them is the Cincinnati Bengals, who've looked good so far, but still plenty of work for Joe Burrow and Co. to do in Cleveland.
