The sophomore year star was also the second-most sacked quarterback in the league (52), behind only Caleb Williams (68).

I think [Houston Texans quarterback] CJ Stroud has been struggling a little bit so I don’t think he walks away with this one.

The Houston Texans had high hopes for 2024 after quarterback CJ Stroud enjoyed a superb rookie season, but his sophomore year has not quite hit the same heights.

Stroud's numbers were down across the board, while a struggling offensive line hardly gave him a solid platform on which to improve.

The defence stepped up to help the Texans win the AFC South with a 10-7 record. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes all struggled to move the ball against the Texans, and Justin Herbert could be next.

The Texans are making their eighth play-off appearance and have a 5-2 record on wildcard weekend.

Former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh returned to the NFL after winning the College National Championship with Michigan in 2023, and he has instantly toughened up this Chargers outfit.

They led the league in scoring defence, and quarterback Justin Herbert has had his most efficient and accurate season of his young career.

They went 11-6 to finish behind the Chiefs in the AFC West but gave them two good games, and they will be a tough tackling, tough running team to face tonight.

Harbaugh made the Super Bowl with the 49ers, which funnily enough was held in New Orleans, can he do it again?

I think the Chargers will take this. They're flying at the moment and the Texans are on a downward slope.

(Head coach) Jim Harbaugh and (defensive coordinator) Jesse Minter have done a great job in their first year with the Chargers. They've completely changed the team's culture and who the Chargers are while pretty much having the same people. They’ve brought an accountability to the team which they’ve just not really had in a while.

    Prediction: Chargers win.

  7. If we don't win the Super Bowl, then I'll say the Lions - Obadapublished at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

Washington Commanders defensive end Efe Obada on who could win Super Bowl 59 - if not his team

British defensive end Efe Obada admits he is a little biased in predicting that his Washington Commanders team will win Super Bowl 59. But if it isn't Washington, Obada fancies the NFC's number one seed, the Detroit Lions.

"If I had to guess, I like Detroit," he told the BBC. "I like the fact that they faced a lot of adversity this season, they’ve had a lot of guys go down [with injuries] and they’ve still been able to put together a winning record.

"They’ve still been able to play some really tough games, come out victorious and play some dominant football. It’s a testament to the coaching staff and the standard that they operate in. They’re a really good team and one to watch."

Here's what the 14 play-off teams have lined up for them.

The Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs secured the number one seed in each Conference so have earned a bye for the first round.

Their post-season campaigns will begin by hosting the lowest remaining seed next week, with the higher seed at home for the other match-ups.

Welcome NFL fans to one of the best weekends of the year as the regular season is put to bed and we get ready for play-off football!

It's gridiron, but not as you've seen it all season as it's win or go home time, and that means players leave absolutely everything on the field, and while they empty their tanks coaches empty their playbooks and throw the kitchen sink at it in search of that one play that could make the difference.

We've got two games tonight, three on Sunday and one on Monday to cut 12 teams down to six and join Kansas City and Detroit in next week's Divisional Round.

So sit back and strap in, because this will be fun...
