The majority of Houston's offence came on that one touchdown drive, leaving CJ Stroud with 180 yards passing with one score and one interception.

Justin Herbert has just 97 yards and one pick.

A common theme is that nobody can run the ball - JK Dobbins has 26 yards from eight rushes while Stroud leads the Texans himself with his 27 yards all coming on just one run.

  2. Half-time - Texans turnaroundpublished at 23:15 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

Houston could not do anything for the majority of that first half, but a broken play after a bobbled snap changed everything.

After CJ Stroud made that crazy completion, the Texans went 99 yards in 13 plays to score the only touchdown of the game so far.

From looking completely lost to scoring 10 points in the final 58 seconds of the half, Houston now lead and everything looks rosy. That's play-off football for you in a nutshell.

You always hear defensive players say the front has to support the back and the back has to support the front. The Texans are doing that now. Tremendous pressure on Herbert up field and at the back the coverage is sticky.

  4. field goal

Field goal - Texanspublished at 23:11 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-10 Houston Texans

The kick is good! Ka'imi Fairbairn knocks it through from 41 yards to stretch Houston's lead in a quite frankly startling turnaround for the home side after such a tough start.

  5. Postpublished at 23:10 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-7 Houston Texans

Robert Woods takes a diving catch for nine yards and that makes the upcoming field goal attempt a lot more comfortable.

And just who is this team in blue? They've done nothing all game yet the last couple of drives look like the greatest show on turf.

  6. Stroud on the run!published at 23:08 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-7 Houston Texans

LA have to punt, and with only seconds left CJ Stroud takes the game into his own hands, well, his own legs really as he goes campering up the middle for a 27-yard gain and just into field goal range.

That's Stroud's longest run of the season - that's just the type of thing you do in the play-offs, laying it all on the line.

It's taken 29 minutes but we finally have the first touchdown of this year's play-offs.

And what a great time for 'our Nico' to strike.

I jest, unfortunately Nico Collins is no relation. Although if he helps Houston reach the Super Bowl I may reach out and claim I'm a long-lost cousin.

  8. Going deep...published at 23:04 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-7 Houston Texans

Justin Herbert has Ladd McConkey open down the field, but he's bumped about in the pocket and when he does have a dart he overthrows his main target and the chance is missed.

If the Texans can get off the field without the Chargers scoring on the final posession of the half... they get the ball back to start the second half. Potential for a double score.

Quick throws to the middle of the defence has been Houston's strategy all the way through. Finally it pays off and the Texans have a touchdown.

  11. touchdown

Touchdown - Texans!published at 22:59 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-7 Houston Texans

The first touchdown of the game! Nico Collins catches the pass over the middle and storms into the end zone for a 13-yard score.

An eighth touchdown of the season for Collins and a bullet from CJ Stroud to cap off a monumental drive for the Texans in the context of this game.

Yes, there was a huge slice of luck in there, but to go 99 yards on that 13-play drive against a Chargers defence that had given them absolutely nothing all game is some effort.

  12. All throw todaypublished at 22:59 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

Joe Mixon gets obliterated trying a run up the middle and the ground game looks like a no-go for Houston. This'll be on CJ's arm from here.

  13. Huge play!published at 22:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

Here we go... Nico Collins benefits from a slip by a Chargers defensive back to gather a bullet from CJ Stroud over the middle and stride forward towards the 10 yard line of LA.

That's a 37-yard gain and Houston now in business.

Straight off the training ground eh... erm, I think not.

But that fumble kind of worked in CJ Stroud's favour as it forced him to deliver on the hoof.

Maybe that's the shot in the arm the Texans needed.

  15. Two minute warningpublished at 22:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

Good time to take a slight breather at the two minute warning after that remarkable CJ Stround play as Houston make a rare visit to the Chargers half of the field.

LA was probably preparing the offence to try and pinch something late on but now Houston may sniff some points.

  16. Wow!published at 22:54 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

What's this!? CJ Stroud fumbles the snap, but reacts quickly by racing back and scooping up the ball, then fires the ball on the run to the centre of the field for Xavier Hutchinson for a huge 34-yard gain and first down.

That came on a third-and-16 as well, so a crucial play, and it was probably going to take a broken play like that to get any joy out of this Chargers defence.

  17. Flagpublished at 22:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

A rare tripping penalty on the Houston offence as the lineman was beaten by the pass rush - which basically is the way this entire first half has gone so far.

  18. First downpublished at 22:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

CJ Stroud manages to find Nico Collins for a first down, and that releases a lot of stress for the home side.

  19. Grounding?published at 22:48 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    LA Chargers 6-0 Houston Texans

    CJ StroudImage source, Getty Images

Ooo - that was a close one as CJ Stroud is hurried inside his own end zone and just chucks the ball away. There's no Houston receiver in sight so that could be an intentional ground penalty and a safety, as predicted, but the refs are kind to him and say he was outside the pocket.

    Close call though.

The Texans defence are stingey, I love the way they're playing, they're getting physical, man-to-man coverage. This is the match-up we talked about. I love the way they play the ball in the air. Sticky coverage all over the place. They are winning on the outside.
