Barkley has great hands, when he's in space he does a great job of making people miss. But this Kansas defence has been all over him, making sure he's not a factor.

  2. Hurts againpublished at 02:01 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-24 Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts again uses his legs to get out of trouble and powers up the middle for another 14 yards.

  3. Here's Saquon!published at 02:00 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-24 Philadelphia Eagles

Saquon Barkley gets his longest run of the game - which is an ominous sign as he gets stronger as the game goes on.

Or rather, defences get tired of tackling him and get overpowered and worn down by this giant offensive line so he's more likely to break free later in the game.

  4. Postpublished at 01:58 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-24 Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts breaks off a 16-yard run just as the Chiefs were about to try and take him down - he sensed it though and got out of danger just at the right time.

  5. Serena Williams was Kendrick's surprise guestpublished at 01:55 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

People thought Kendrick might bring out Taylor Swift to sing Bad Blood during his half-time show. Instead, the special guest was none other than tennis legend Serena Williams, external - who'd previously praised Not Like Us, calling it "the hit of the summer".

There are no photos yet, unfortunately. Even the snappers must have been caught by surprise. And, in fact, the whole set went by in a bit of a blur...

The narrative framing was a lot of fun, with Sam Jackson urging Kendrick (the first rapper to play the half-time show as a solo act) not to upset the audience at home.

Not unexpectedly, there wasn't a singalong moment to bring the crowd together, like Katy Perry's Firework a decade ago, or Prince's rain-soaked rendition of Purple Rain in 2007.

But I need to go back and watch the whole show again properly. Lamar is a storyteller who laces his performances with meaning and purpose. This will undoubtedly be one to watch and re-watch.

That half-time show was worse than the Chiefs first half performance and that is really impressive to acheive!

Patrick Mahomes takes off on a winding run but it's not enough for a first down and the Chiefs have to kick it away.

He's just got no confidence back there in the pocket so he's either rushing through his reads or just taking off too soon before his receivers have chance to get open.

Yes, the offensive line has been pretty poor, but Mahomes is struggling too.

I don't want to see the Chiefs panic. There is 30 minutes left.

They will be thrilled if they're 10 points down going into the fourth quarter.

Take it one drive at a time and chip away at this lead.

  11. Sack!published at 01:51 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Two plays of hope for the Chiefs but then back to business for the Eagles pash rush as they sack Patrick Mahomes for the fourth time in the game.

We're off in the second half with Isiah Pacheco running the ball for six yards on the opening play, before a quick throw out to Xavier Worhty gets a first down.

Just their second of the game.

The Super Bowl is a time for the stars to come out, and right now Kansas City need their two brightest, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, to conjure up a minor miracle.

The Chiefs had one first down and just 23 yards in that first half, with the Eagles holding the ball for almost 10 minutes more.

Throw in two turnovers and it genuinely could hardly have gone worse for the double defending champions - they'll have to lay it all on the line to get a foothold in the game from here.

    Can they do it?

Millions of viewers across the US will be tuning in today to see which team will be declared the victor: the Chiefs or the Eagles?

But in the time in-between plays, there will be a separate contest playing out on TV screens across the nation, as some of the biggest brands in the world hope to cement their place in the pop culture zeitgeist.

    And it’s not surprising why.

Last year’s Super Bowl was watched by an average 123.4 million people in the US, making it the most watched broadcast since the 1969 Moon landing.

But in the early years, the game didn't attract as many viewers (about 51.1 million people tuned in 1967). That explains why a 30-second slot could be purchased for about $300,000 (£241,000) in today’s dollars. That same time slot has cost millions in recent Super Bowls.

This year, it’s reported by US media that for just half a minute of air time, advertisers will be shilling out more than $7m (£5.6m).

It took companies a bit of time to clue in to the value of the multi-million dollar ad, but an often-referenced tipping point seems to be the early 80s.

In 1984, Apple hired US director Ridley Scott to create a 60-second commercial for the release of the original Macintosh. The ad, ostensibly an homage to the George Orwell novel with the same title, was a creative swing for the company, but it seemed to pay off.

A New York Times article from 1984, external said the technology firm spent about $370,000 to create the one-minute ad, while David Stubley – a sports marketing expert – told CNN, external this year that the company sold $150m worth of computers in the weeks after it aired.

Ever since Kendrick was announced as the half-time performer, there'd been a debate over whether he'd play Not Like Us.

The song was the culmination (and the fatal blow) in an endlessly escalating rap beef with Drake - in which he accused his nemesis of cultural appropriation and paedophilia. With the song the subject of an active defamation lawsuit, it was unclear whether Lamar would be permitted to perform it.

In the end, he went through with it. Perhaps wisely, Lamar self-censored the word "paedophile" but left other lyrics intact, including the one that went viral: ", externalTrying to strike a chord and it's probably A minorrrrr."

That was the only moment in Lamar's 13-minute set where the crowd audibly joined in with the words.

He wrapped things up wth a wink. "Somebody got to do it," he rapped in on TV Off, before clicking his fingers on an imaginary remote to bring the performance to an abrupt halt.

"I wanna perform their favourite song," says Kendrick - teasing a bar of the Drake-dissing Not Like Us. A huge cheer erupts, but he's only teasing us...

Instead, he launches into Luther, his current chart smash with R&B singer SZA.

Then they segue into All The Stars, recorded for the original Black Panther film in 2018.

"That's what America wants. Nice and calm," says Samuel L Jackson.

And then... Kendrick breaks into Not Like Us for real.

After Kendrick's opening numbers, "Uncle Sam" (aka Samuel L Jackson) appears to be dissatisfied.

"Too loud, too reckless, too ghetto," he scolds the rapper.

"Mr Lamar, do you really know how to play the game? Let's tighten up."

Lamar then launches into Humble and DNA - two of his biggest hits - surrounded by dancers dressed in red white and blue.
