An artisan chocolate cricket ball was delivered to the TMS commentary box this morning.

How long will it last? Depends if it's a Dukes or Kookaburra...

  5. Ind 213-6published at 66 overs

A maiden for Gus Atkinson, picking up where he left off on day one.

He has 2-31 from his 20 overs, including eight maidens.

That ball has gone all the way back. It wouldn't even hit fifth stump.

  7. Ind 213-6published at 65.2 overs

There's a huge appeal as Karun Nair is struck on the pads. The entire slip cordon goes up and Gus Atkinson pleads with a stony-faced Ahsan Raza. He is unmoved.

Ollie Pope opts against the review. It was missing the stumps.

One of my earliest cricket memories was watching Graham Thorpe score a hundred against Australia in 1993. Up until that point, everyone seemed to be afraid of Merv Hughes and co, but Thorpe cutting and pulling boundaries off these fearsome quicks showed he wasn’t going to back down.

A poor start from Josh Tongue. Out of the balls he bowled there, three were average.

  10. Ind 213-6published at 65 overs

A boundary, a low full toss and then a half-hearted appeal from Josh Tongue as Washington Sundar is struck on the pad. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena has the best unimpressed face in cricket.

Washington then collects a boundary of his own, turning the ball off his pads and watching it speed away for four.

    A bizarre start.

Despite the two wickets yesterday, I'm hoping Tongue finds his 'groove' this morning.

India are still in this game. They have a full compliment of bowlers and they will have seen some movement in the pitch and will try and get it out.

England might bat well and be positive here, though. We might even see some Bazball this afternoon.

I was buying a cricket bat for my son in a famous cricket shop in Kings Heath in Birmingham. It was the day before a Test match. I recognised another person in the shop. It was Graham Thorpe having his bat shaved. I asked him to sign the bat and he did. A kind man. My son still has it 30 years later.

Today at The Oval, players and fans are celebrating the life of former England international Graham Thorpe with 'A Day for Thorpey'.

Legendary England batter Thorpe took his own life last year after a prolonged struggle with depression and anxiety.

The former Surrey player, who had a 17-year county career at The Oval, is being remembered on what would have been his 56th birthday.

In a nod to the trademark headband Thorpe wore while batting, headbands designed by his wife Amanda and daughters Kitty and Emma, will be sold to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

"That day will be very powerful," Amanda told BBC Breakfast. "We want to celebrate him and his memory. His light was so bright."

England were in a strong position after reducing India to 153-6, with Sir Alastair Cook suggesting on Test Match Special that Shubman Gill's side would happy to reach 230.

However, a 51-run seventh wicket stand has boosted India's spirits, with Karun Nair (52 off 98) proving a thorn in England's side.

Who will get the big wicket to break his partnership with Washington Sundar?
