Another tight over, just five from Gudakesh Motie's second, as Buttler and Bethell ease into their partnership.

  3. Eng 105-2published at 10 overs

Big opportunity for Jacob Bethell here, as the young batter has 10 overs to bat with the England captain for company at the moment.

The wicket of Phil Salt and just four runs from Roston Chase's opening over.

    Caught down the leg side!

Phil Salt's done his job and his destructive innings comes to an end on 55 from 35 balls.

Roston Chase drags one quite short and Salt shapes up to send yet another over the ropes but gets a faint edge through to Nicholas Pooran, who takes a sharp catch behind the stumps.

Good response from the keeper, who put down two chances on Thursday.

    Here he is!

Slightly less elegant this time but effective, as Buttler whacks one over long-on for his first six.

England's skipper, along with Jamie Overton and Marcus Trescothick, is wearing a black armband today out of respect for Mary Elworthy who died yesterday aged 90.

Mary was a massive supporter of Somerset and did so much for the club and she supported all three of them while they played there.

  7. Eng 94-1published at 8.4 overs

    Welcome, Jos Buttler.

He punches a good ball from Akeal Hosein off the back foot and over cover for four. Extraordinary.

  8. Eng 90-1published at 8.3 overs

Oh, so close to a screamer!

Obed McCoy sprints in from long-off and dives full length to a rare miscue from Salt, but the ball just drops short of him. He shakes his head to indicate that he hadn't got there but it was a fantastic effort and the sort of commitment West Indies are going to need in the face of England's aggression.

The right-handed Salt has been so destructive, scoring his runs mostly in front of the wicket.

We were told to expect big runs on Thursday but the weather would have impacted that; today in better conditions Phil Salt is striking it brilliantly.

My word, Phil Salt enjoys batting in the Caribbean.

He strikes Rovman Powell for back-to-back fours to bring up a 32-ball fifty - the seventh time he has reached that mark against this side. Three of those have been converted into centuries...

  12. Eng 77-1published at 7 overs

Decent response from Motie, with just two singles coming from the next four balls, but it's another big over for England with 14 coming from it.

Looking like a good toss to lose at this rate!

    And another!

That's gone flying over cover in style. Phil Salt has 44 from 26 balls.

Phil Salt is not messing around tonight.

He slams Gudakesh Motie's first ball for another six.

  15. Eng 63-1published at 6 overs

Will Jacks' departure has very little impact on Phil Salt.

He whacks Akeal Hosein down the ground for six to ruin what started as a tidy over.

    England's powerplay, comfortably.

That's the fourth time Alzarri Joseph has dismissed Will Jacks in seven T20 innings in which they've faced off - three of the four dismissals have come with back of a length/short deliveries.

    Breakthrough!

Perfect response from Alzarri Joseph as he bangs one in shorter, which takes Will Jacks by surprise and he top-edges it straight up for the keeper Nicholas Pooran to take a simple chance.

No celebration at all from the Windies' quick as it has been a frustrating start for the hosts after winning the toss.

  18. Eng 53-0published at 4.3 overs

    From bad to worse.

Joseph gives away a free hit via a front foot no-ball, but nails a yorker to ensure there is minimal damage.

    And there's no stopping them!

Will Jacks slams a slower ball from Alzarri Joseph down the ground for six more.

  20. Eng 43-0published at 4 overs

So much for it being more difficult to bat first here.

    England are flying.
