Put down off his own bowling!

Jofra Archer is not quite finding his length but he's got the big wicket so England will be delighted with that. But the target isn't a lot.

  4. Ind 9-1published at 4 overs

Karun Nair takes twos from the first and last balls of Jofra Archer's second over, hitting through mid-on and then mid-off.

In between those shots he tries to duck under a bouncer and takes a blow to the shoulder.

My dog is currently birthing puppies, so far we have ‘Jofra’ safely delivered and hoping Woakes gives me a reason to name the next one due!

Your job as an opening pair is trying to create calmness and that's the key especially in high pressure situations and that shot by Yashasvi Jaiswal has created chaos.

  7. Ind 5-1published at 3 overs

    Blimey, that is close.

Chris Woakes' delivery nips past the off stump of KL Rahul - that can only have been a couple of millimetres away.

The India opener then inside edges onto his pads, then has to swiftly dip his bat back into his crease as the stumps are successfully thrown down.

    Consecutive maidens for Woakes.

Sun beating down, Jofra from the Nursery End late in the evening with the crowd loud. We’ve been here before.

  9. Ind 5-1published at 2 overs

Karun Nair walks in under a bit of pressure, with a top score of 40 so far in this series (scored in the first innings here).

Archer tries a yorker to greet him, but it's wide of off stump.

That's a really poor stroke, it wasn't a great delivery. It was short and wide and Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to pull it, it would have been better to cut it.

Jofra Archer strikes - an early wicket!

Yashasvi Jaiswal plays across the line to a bouncer that gets a little big on him and sends a top-edge spiralling into the sunny London skies.

Jamie Smith is right underneath it, he has plenty of time to settle and take the catch.

    Game on?

  12. Ind 4-0published at 1.2 overs

It is, of course, Jofra Archer who takes the second over.

He's bowling from the Nursery End, where Jasprit Bumrah got all his variable bounce earlier today - although he took his wickets from the Pavilion End.

KL Rahul clips Archer's second ball through an empty fine leg to get India off the mark.

England needed to bat for at least another hour. As it is now India have plenty of time to knock these off. England need to produce their best spell of bowling so far in 2025 to have any chance of winning this. Rash shots have cost England the 100 runs they needed to win this game.

  15. Ind 0-0published at 1 over

Chris Woakes to bowl from the Pavilion End as England begin their defence of 193.

He starts with a maiden to Yashavi Jaiswal - who can afford to take his time.

Lots of doom merchants moaning. Facing Archer and Carse on this pitch isn’t going to be as easy as everyone thinks. Hope yet.

India will be very pleased with this effort. They will be hoping to get off to a good start. It will be India's top order v Jofra Archer. It won't be easy for the Indian openers but if they get off to a good start, then this total is very much reachable.
