    And another for Bumrah?

A crowd of India players convince their captain Shubman Gill that they've had new batter Jofra Archer caught behind.

    Gill sends it upstairs...

The five balls remaining in this over feel like plenty for Bumrah to wrap this up.

Corker of a yorker, quick, full and straight. 182 is the lead but that is not enough for my money.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 55.1 overs

    Carse b Bumrah 1 (Eng 182-8)

    Nailed the yorker!

Jasprit Bumrah has his first wicket of the innings and he claims it with a superb delivery, spearing in a delivery right in the blockhole.

Carse jams his bat down but can't keep that out - few could.

    India in command.

  5. Eng 182-7published at 55 overs

Brydon Carse comes out for England, faces two dot balls then retains the strike with a single past the bowler.

I don't want to say I told you so but I told you so. Washington Sundar has that ability get under your bat, and this was a little bit fuller and quicker and Ben Stokes was done by it.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 54.2 overs

    Stokes b Sundar 33 (Eng 181-7)

    Colossal moment in the match.

Washington Sundar's brilliant spell continues - having removed Joe Root and Jamie Smith, he now cleans up Ben Stokes.

Two balls prior the England captain swept the spinner through square for four, he goes for the same shot here and has his stumps splayed.

There goes England's last senior batter, and they're still some way short of what most would consider a defendable total.

  8. Eng 177-6published at 54 overs

    Out with a direct hit!

Jasprit Bumrah takes the ball from the Pavilion End and Ben Stokes hits his fourth towards mid-off and sets off for the single.

The ball bounces up really nicely for Shubman Gill to collect and fire at the stumps, while Stokes has to dodge round Bumrah and do a full-length dive.

The ball passes just wide of the wicket prior to Stokes sliding into the crease.

  9. Eng 176-6published at 53 overs

    Stokes 28, Woakes 8

Ben Stokes faces five balls from Washington Sundar without scoring, then edges through point to get England back under way after tea.

Both Woakes and Stokes are not in great form with the bat but have massive hearts and are more than capable of building a partnership. If they can get the score to 230 or even 250 and Carse etc can also chip in with a few, we are well in this game especially if we can get early wickets.

Off we go again, with Washington Sundar set to bowl to Ben Stokes.

England resume on 175-6, their lead... also 175.

    Intriguing. It's all very intriguing.

That was a gripping session of cricket and we're not done yet. There are still 39 overs left in the day or, more realistically, two and a half hours.

Mike Peter is back to take you through it.

  16. Tea - Eng 175-6published at 52 overs

    Lead by 175

And that proves to be the final over before tea.

Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes walk off side by side.

This game is still right in the balance.

  17. dropped catch

    Eng 175-6published at 51.3 overs

I don't think we can call this a drop.

Ben Stokes, on 26, hits the ball through the legs of short leg Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Decisions to be made by Shubman Gill, do you continue to persist with your spinners after tea or do you give Jasprit Bumrah a go?

  19. Eng 173-6published at 51 overs

    Lead by 173

Every ball is making me squirm a little as Ben Stokes lurches forward and back. Washington Sundar is bowling accurately and the final ball of his over kicks from the good part of the pitch.

It's a maiden to Stokes who has faced 82 balls for his 26.

It's easy being the England top order. Runs are optional and you don't have to bowl. Pity the lower order who have to do both.
