Summary

  1. WI 60-1published at 17 overs

    Woops, that was a chance.

Bashir strikes McKenzie on the pads - the England bowler goes up initially but the shout dies in his throat. It looks to be heading down leg, no-one seems especially interested and England don't review.

A minute or so later we see ball tracking that shows a strike on the top of leg stump.

  4. WI 59-1published at 16 overs

Kirk McKenzie is the new West Indies batter, but Kraigg Brathwaite kindly spares him from facing of Wood's over.

The West Indies opener finds the boundary at fine leg, fending off a short ball and seeing it run away - that might have come off the arm guard.

That was a wild swipe, brilliant from Bashir to give the ball a little more height.

Harry Brook with the catch, a very good one, Bashir gets the breakthrough.

Again a pretty ugly shot from Louis and he's on his way out.

    Louis c Brook b Bashir 21 (WI 53-1)

Who needs pace, it's spin that's got the breakthrough!

Mikyle Louis had just scored four with an ugly swipe into the leg side, bringing up the West Indies fifty, but is dismissed from the following delivery.

He tries another big mow and skies the ball - Harry Brook has time to run from mid-on to mid-wicket to take the catch.

He really didn't need to do that, and the West Indies decent opening partnership is at an end.

These two are doing a great job against Mark Wood's fast bowling. He can't keep this up all game.

A good bouncer form Mark Wood, he's getting close to 100mph.

The fans want to see it.

  12. WI 48-0published at 14 overs

    Woosh, 97.1mph bouncer from Wood!

Louis does well, dropping his hands and swaying out of the way.

A maiden over, and the players will take much-needed drinks - it looks warm out there.

Trent Bridge is a boundary ground.

We saw the West Indies yesterday struggle to contain England.

  15. WI 47-0published at 13 overs

Brathwaite enjoys a bit of slower bowling, sweeping Bashir away for four through square leg.

He moves to 29 with a second sweep, taking a single from the penultimate ball of the over.

Mark Wood had an average speed of 94.5mph in his first over.

That's the quickest over in a Test match in England since 2011 and is the quickest over by an English bowler ever recorded in this country.

  17. WI 39-0published at 12 overs

This is fantastic stuff from Mark Wood, delivering another over of an express pace.

He troubles Brathwaite, pulling him into stretching for a defensive shot, sending a ball past the bat and then dropping one short that the West Indies opener has to fend away.

It'll be a good game for Bashir, not the easiest place to bowl spin.

It's also his first time bowling in a home Test match.

  19. WI 36-0published at 11 overs

Hello, we're going to get a first over from Shoaib Bashir.

The tall off-break bowler didn't get a bowl at Lord's, with England happy to simply enjoy the theoretical benefits of his high release point.

Five scoreless deliveries before Brathwaite picks up a bizarre two behind the keeper, the ball flicking off his leg and then the back of his bat.
