  1. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 190-6

Ben Raine is doing his best to counter-attack for Durham, taking two boundaries from a Jack Leach over.

Brydon Carse is also looking to score whenever he can and if this pair can chip away at the deficit, the visitors might yet find a route back into the game.

Meanwhile, Somerset are rotating their spinners to good effect, with Archie Vaughan back on for another spell alongside Leach.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Michael Pepperpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 30 August

    Essex 281-7 v Worcs 266

Essex's Michael Pepper takes three runs off Joe Leach to reach 50 from 64 balls.

The home side have been accumulating slowly since the interval and have a slender lead of 15 over the Pears.

  3. wicket

WICKET: Stoneman c Lyth b Bess 27published at 16:26 British Summer Time 30 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 61-1

First one in the bag for Dom Bess!

The off-spinner turns the ball away from Mark Stoneman, who steers it into the waiting hands of Adam Lyth at slip.

Pressure on Middlesex as Max Holden walks out to join Sam Robson in the middle.

  4. Postpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 30 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 61-0

Four overs into the evening session at Headingley and it won't come as any surprise that they've all been bowled by spinners.

Two each for Dom Bess and Dan Moriarty, who will presumably shoulder most of the bowling burden in this Middlesex innings.

So far, the visitors have increased their total by six runs, with Mark Stoneman on 27 and Sam Robson 26.

  5. Kent's bowling woespublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 30 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 23-1

As Daniel Bell-Drummond and Harry Finch try to mount a rearguard action, it's worth looking at Kent's struggles with the ball.

This is their 11th Championship game of the season and they have conceded more than 400 in the first innings in 10 of those games.

The exception was bowling Lancashire out for 92 at Old Trafford in May - the only game they have won this summer.

It is impossible to win matches when shipping so many runs, so consistently.

  6. wicket

WICKET: De Leede run out 16published at 16:19 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 170-6

It goes from bad to worse for Durham.

Brydon Carse pushes Jack Leach for a single on the off side which always looked optimistic - and so it proved as Tom Abell returns the ball to the wicketkeeper, who takes off the bails with Bas de Leede just short of his ground.

Six wickets gone and Somerset minds will inevitably be starting to ponder the question of whether to enforce the follow-on - unless the visitors can somehow unearth a significant partnership.

  7. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 30 August

    Notts 57-1 v Surrey 525

A filthy full toss from Cameron Steel is sent to the midwicket boundary by Haseeb Hameed.

It's a very quick 50 partnership between the captain and Freddie McCann.

They are now only 468 runs behind!

  8. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 30 August

    Lancashire 108-3 v Hampshire 389

A late tea at Old Trafford, but those two wickets from Liam Dawson have again shifted the match in Hampshire's favour.

The dismissal of Keaton Jennings for 56 was huge to end the partnership of 90 between him and Josh Bohannon for the second wicket.

Bohannon is 40 not out and much responsibility will be on him in the final session.

Expect Dawson to wheel away for most of it. His 2-15 can go with his 104 not out this morning.

  9. Postpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 159-5

Jack Leach has three wickets already - and he very nearly added a fourth in his last over, whizzing deliveries narrowly past the edge of Bas de Leede's bat.

The first of those prompted an appeal for caught behind, which was rejected by the umpire, but Leach really has the bit between his teeth at the moment.

Brydon Carse doesn't look as though he fancies hanging around, having already clubbed the spinner over the top for a boundary since his arrival at the crease just after tea.

  10. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 30 August

    Notts 46-1 v Surrey 525

Positive stuff from Notts in the two overs since tea at Trent Bridge.

A pair of fours for Haseeb Hameed and one for Freddie McCann gets the scoreboard ticking along nicely.

Surrey skipper Rory Burns is on the attack, so there are gaps in the field.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Lees c Overton b Goldsworthy 59published at 16:03 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 151-5

Stunning catch by Craig Overton and a huge wicket for Somerset in the first over after tea!

Lewis Goldsworthy is brought on for his first bowl of the innings and the left-arm spinner does the trick for the home side.

Alex Lees nudges outside off stump and Overton flings himself low to his left - it's a fair way down for a big man - to clasp the catch one-handed.

Five down now and Durham are really under pressure.

  12. wicket

WICKET Flintoff c sub (Organ) b Dawson 0published at 16:03 British Summer Time 30 August

    Lancashire 104-3 v Hampshire 389

Rocky Flintoff learns a hard lesson here as he falls to the crafty left-arm spin of Liam Dawson.

The 16-year-old is desperate to get off the mark after nine balls and he tries to slog sweep the 34-year-old.

But he is hitting against the spin and only sends it miles into the air, suffering the slow death of watching it drop into the hands of the midwicket fielder.

A second duck to follow his first-baller at The Oval on Sunday.

  13. wicket

    WICKET Compton c Burgess b Hannon-Dalby 7published at 16:01 British Summer Time 30 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 7-1

Please, Kent fans, look away now!

Their batter most likely to bat for a long time, Ben Compton, is out, fishing at one outside off-stump from Ollie Hannon-Dalby.

The left-hander shouldn't be playing at it, he knows that, but it sums up the peril they are in this season.

  15. Kent begin second inningspublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 30 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 6-0

Ben Compton has been joined by wicketkeeper Harry Finch to open this Kent second innings.

Ollie Hannon-Dalby begins with a maiden to Finch, before Compton gets the score up and running with a flick for four off Chris Rushworth.

  16. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 30 August

Essex 275-7 v Worcs 266 - Essex lead by nine runs

Tea is called and Essex have found a way to get their noses in front after some testing periods courtesy of the Pears' bowling attack.

The evening session is set up nicely, can Essex kick on to build a significant lead or will Worcestershire take those last three wickets quickly?

  17. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 30 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 55-0

Mark Stoneman takes a single off the final over before tea, from Dan Moriarty, and Middlesex have safely negotiated their first hurdle - but still have a very long way to go.

Stoneman has 22, with Sam Robson on 25 and the deficit is 546 - so just the trifling matter of 397 to avoid the follow-on.

  18. Pepper moves Essex into leadpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 30 August

    Essex 270-7 v Worcs 266

Michael Pepper's unbeaten 45 has moved Essex in front at Chelmsford.

He and Shane Snater have put on almost 50 together.

When last wicket Simon Harmer departed, Essex were wobbling a bit as Worcestershire picked up wickets.

  19. wicket

WICKET Jennings lbw b Dawson 56published at 15:46 British Summer Time 30 August

    Lancashire 102-2 v Hampshire 389

The big, big wicket for Hampshire!

Keaton Jennings is beaten and struck on the pad as he goes back to Liam Dawson and the finger goes up.

It looked a touch high but Dawson has his reward for nine tight and testing overs.

There will be no fifth hundred today for the Lancashire captain.

  20. Postpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 30 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 44-0

After seven overs of seam, Yorkshire decided to deploy their double-pronged spin attack and we'll have Dan Moriarty and Dom Bess in tandem until tea - and most likely beyond.

There was a scare just now for Sam Robson when Bess turned one away and it sailed into the hands of Jonny Bairstow at leg slip, but the ball brushed pad rather than bat on its way through.
