  1. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 30 August

    Notts v Surrey 484-8

Surrey have been at the crease for 140 overs in their first innings now.

It definitely feels like a 'bat big, bat once' mode.

India all-rounder Sai Sudharsan has 87, so if he gets to his century, captain Rory Burns may decide to call them in at that point.

  2. 150 runs

150 for Will Rhodespublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 30 August

    Warwickshire 351-4 v Kent 156

Will Rhodes and Warwickshire continue on their merry way as he hits Alfie Ogborne for four more to clock up his 150.

It's the 26th four of his knock, which has taken 239 balls.

Then Ed Barnard pulls another Ogborne delivery to the midwicket rope and that is the 350.

A third batting point for the Bears as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.

  3. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 65-1

Despite the scoreboard pressure that comes with replying to almost 500, Durham are ticking along briskly at just above four an over.

Skipper Scott Borthwick has also taken a liking to Jack Leach, dispatching him to the boundary in his last over and he's now caught up partner Alex Lees, with 25 apiece.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Jack Carsonpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 30 August

    Sussex 548-6 v Derbyshire

And as if to emphasise how many runs Sussex are scoring, Simpson's batting partner Jack Carson has a half-century as their side near 550.

  5. 100 runs

100 for John Simpsonpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 30 August

    Sussex 545-6 v Derbyshire

Another captain doing the business is Sussex's John Simpson.

This is his fourth century of the season.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Tom Westleypublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 30 August

    Essex 171-4 v Worcs 266

A captain's knock when Essex have needed it as Tom Westley passes his half-century.

He's held things together in the top order after Worcestershire removed Das, Cox and Critchley in quick succession before lunch.

  7. Five-wicket haul for Farhan Ahmedpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 30 August

    Notts v Surrey 464-8

History for Nottinghamshire and Farhan Ahmed.

Notts' youngest-ever player becomes their youngest to take five wickets in an innings as he has Tom Lawes caught behind down leg for 11.

What a superb performance from Ahmed, aged 16 years and 190 days.

    His figures read 42.3-4-111-5.

  8. 500 up for Yorkshirepublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 30 August

    Yorks 500-6 v Middx

A stray delivery from Noah Cornwell drifts down the leg side and the umpire signals a wide that lifts the Yorkshire total up to 500.

The question this afternoon is: how long will they want to bat?

At the moment, no hurry at all and you'd think Yorkshire have already amassed a total sufficient to ensure that, at worst, they can't lose this game.

  9. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 30 August

    Lancashire 23-1 v Hampshire 389

A pleasing drive through the covers from Keaton Jennings is the first boundary of the afternoon at Old Trafford.

It takes him into double figures.

A lot of batting to do, though.

  10. 50 runs

50 for Ed Barnardpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 30 August

    Warwickshire 328-4 v Kent 156

A pair last week against Somerset, but Ed Barnard is back in the runs today.

This is more like his fine summer as his half century comes off 78 balls.

He gets his single off the first ball bowled by Alfie Ogborne, who is on to complete Grant Stewart's afternoon.

  11. ouch!

Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 30 August

    Warwickshire 327-4 v Kent 156

Grant Stewart's afternoon lasts one ball.

After his delivery, he takes his cap from the umpire and heads back to the dressing room.

More injury problems for Kent and their bowling attack.

  12. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 39-1

It's an all-spin policy for Somerset straight after lunch, with Jack Leach operating alongside Archie Vaughan - who's taken the only wicket to fall so far in this Durham innings.

Leach is getting some turn, but Alex Lees is picking the balls to hit and came down the track to deposit the left-armer for a couple of fours in his first over of the session.

  14. Pears claw their way back into contestpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 30 August

    Essex 151-4 v Worcs 266

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

After allowing Tom Westley and Essex a decent start, Worcestershire have clawed their way back into this Championship game at Chelmsford.

Starting on the overnight total of 50-1, Essex captain Westley looked in great form, especially through the leg side, from anything bowled straight.

But Worcestershire got together with a plan - bowl outside off-stump to starve Westley of any runs.

Amar Virdi bowled economically, with his first 10 overs costing just 22 runs, as Ethan Brookes collected the rewards at the other end with two wickets - bowling Robin Das for a patient 46 and watching Jordan Cox clip to Adam Hose at short mid-wicket for just three.

Westley kept the top order together before Matt Critchley was lbw to Brett D’Oliveira.

Lunch came with Westley on 45 and Walter on four.

Worcestershire have fought hard here this morning.

  15. Ingram and Carlson put Glamorgan on toppublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 30 August

    Glamorgan 201-3 v Leicestershire 251

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson put together a patient stand of 174 to leave Glamorgan favourites for a decent first innings lead over Leicestershire, despite the Foxes finally removing Carlson for 85 just before lunch.

Leicestershire bowled more tightly than last night, and Ingram offered a tough chance to slip off Tom Scriven on 64, but reached three figures for the fifth time in 13 first-class innings this season in an outstanding run of form for the veteran South African.

Rehan Ahmed struck to dismiss Carlson, just dragging his back foot forward for Peter Hansdcomb to effect a neat stumping.

But Leicestershire need to make further inroads on the hybrid wicket without one of their spin options in Liam Trevaskis, who has not been on the field so far.

  16. Talented young players to the forepublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 30 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 29-1

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset’s hugely talented younger cricketers were very much to the fore this morning, as James Rew, 20, completed an eighth first-class century and Archie Vaughan, 18, claimed a maiden first-class wicket.

With five batting points under their belt, Somerset will be confident of adding to their tally on a dry pitch, offering some turn.

  17. 'Sussex seem intent on only batting once'published at 13:20 British Summer Time 30 August

    Sussex 525-6 v Derbyshire

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Sussex continue to pile on the runs at Hove, the maximum five batting bonus points have been safely banked, and they seem intent on only batting once in this game

However on a good batting surface and with the Kookaburra ball, that may be easier said than done, although there has been evidence of some slow turn.

John Simpson is closing in on his fourth hundred of the season, and together with Jack Carson, who is within sight of his second half-century of the campaign, have added an unbroken 90 for the seventh wicket

  18. Scores at lunchpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 30 August

  19. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 30 August

    Essex 151-4 v Worcs 266

The pendulum has swung back towards Worcestershire at lunch after Essex looked to be motoring along nicely.

Robin Das (46) and Tom Westley, still there on 45, started the session strongly but the former's dismissal led to the hosts losing two more wickets in the latter part of the session - including danger man Jordan Cox, who had been released to play by England.

It's finely poised, as we like it to be, with Essex trailing the Pears by 115 runs with six wickets in hand.

  20. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 30 August

    Lancashire 13-1 v Hampshire 389

The morning belongs to Liam Dawson following his brilliant 104 not out for Hampshire.

The addition of 72 for the last wicket with Mohammad Abbas has really turned the match in their favour.

Lancashire lost opener Luke Wells before lunch and as ever, much of their batting hopes rest on captain Keaton Jennings.

They have a lot of work to do when play resumes, trailing by 376.
