All the drama, shout for lbw and a missed runout.

  8. Eng 73-6published at 21 overs

Pitching about a mile outside leg.

Atkinson almost got himself run out prior to that review, he set off for the leg bye and had to hurry back after Jamie Smith said no.

Here are the six wickets to fall so far in this innings. Look away now, England fans...

  11. Eng 72-6published at 20 overs

Time for Milan Rathnayake, replacing Lahiru Kumara.

He beats the bat of Jamie Smith first up, with the ball just missing off stump, before drawing a thick inside edge with his final delivery, just jagging away past the wicket.

Smith takes the only run of the over.

Things like this in Test cricket, couldn't they have just taken drinks whilst Chandimal was on the floor?

There seems to be more and more stop-starting.

  14. Eng 71-6published at 19 overs

Vishwa Fernando sends down five dot balls to Jamie Smith, before the England keeper grabs a single with a push down to long leg.

It took Chandimal until the middle of the over to make it back to the dressing room.

    Time for drinks.

I never ever thought I would write this but England deserve to lose this, just for their sheer arrogance and lack of respect for Sri Lanka. Hopefully, they might learn a lesson.

  17. Eng 70-6published at 18 overs

Substitute Nishan Madushka comes on and takes up position behind the stumps for Sri Lanka.

Atkinson hits the final ball of the over into the covers - no run.

Meanwhile Chandimal is still gingerly making his way up the plentiful steps of The Oval's pavilion - will he be able to bat in the second innings?

Dinesh Chandimal has been in the wars this series.

  20. Eng 70-6published at 17.5 overs

Kumara's first ball to Atkinson flies off down the leg side and Dinesh Chandimal collects with a big dive to his left.

He seems to have injured himself and after a long spell on the deck is now hobbling off holding his back.
