  1. wicket

WICKET Robinson c Donald b Morley 18published at 12:23 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 462-9

    An entertaining cameo is over.

Ollie Robinson has driven Jack Morley over the top for six and swept him square for four in this over - but he's gone now.

It's not a great delivery in truth, well back of a length - but somehow Robinson has managed to tap the ball to Aneurin Donald on the leg side.

Jayden Seales is the Sussex number 11.

  2. 'You'd love to see Finaly Bean step up'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 384-3 v Glamorgan 221

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

It's been an absolutely outstanding knock from Finlay Bean.

He was put down on six, put down again on 140 but that is not his fault. You've got to take your opportunities when you are given them in the field and particularly when it is tough to take wickets out there.

In between times that is the best I've seen him play in terms of the sort of confidence about the way he's played.

He's took them on, he's hit some absolutely cracking shots all around the ground. We've seen him hit straight sixes, we've seen him hammer the ball away square on both sides of the wicket and he's just kept the ball ticking with Joe Root as everyone seems to do when they bat with Joe.

It's been fantastic to watch and a big 100 against his name.

He's playing Division Two cricket, you'd love to see him being able to step up and see what he's got to offer against Division One bowlers.

People have seen him play and suddenly he gets a few centuries and they're throwing England at you and that's a whole different level. There are layers to go up in the game but at this level playing Division Two cricket for the last season and this, he keeps layering up his knowledge of the game.

He's building his experience all the time. Let's not bite off more than we can chew but it would be interesting to see him play against better bowlers and see if he can maintain this sort of form.

He's certainly got the ability to do that. He's got the temperament to do that and until you are tested you never quite know.

  3. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 397-3 v Glamorgan 221

Spin at both ends on what is now effectively a fifth day pitch after the same strip was used against Derbyshire last week.

Joe Root and Harry Brook milk Bevan for five singles before Mason Crane steps up for his 14th over.

Brook's eyes then light up as he whacks the second ball legside to the deep mid-wicket boundary.

It almost goes all the way, but four is added to the mounting Yorkshire first innings knock.

  4. Maximum batting points for Sussexpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 451-8

Zak Chappell bowls to Ollie Robinson.

Short, leg side and Robinson is back and across to swat that down the ground for two.

Might a pull shot have been easier?

Sussex have a full set of five batting points nonetheless.

    Lancs 92 & 184-5 v Kent 261 - lead by 15

An appeal for caught behind off George Balderson is turned down.

Must have been close to the glove as he swayed out of the way of a bumper destined for the head.

Frustration is compounded for the bowler Wes Agar, who bowls a wide half tracker which is slapped through the off side for four.

  6. wicket

WICKET Lamb st Guest b Morely 37published at 12:13 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 442-8

Sharp work from keeper Brooke Guest, who is having an excellent morning behind the timbers after taking catches to dismiss Carson and Pujara.

Jack Morley lures Danny Lamb down the track with a big drive.

He misses the ball and Guest removes to bails in a flash.

    Ollie Robinson is in next.

  7. 100 up for Middlesexpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Middlesex 103-2 v Leics 306

A steady start from Middlesex this morning after that early loss of Max Holden.

Ben Green and Ben Mike have bowled tightly this morning and made Sam Robson and Leus du Plooy work very hard for their runs.

But the shackles finally come off as Green offers a bit of width and Sam Robson leans into the shot and sends it through the covers for four.

Three figures are up for Middlesex after 35 overs and Robson is up to 47.

  8. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 177-5 v Kent 261 - lead by 8

Shot! George Balderson drives Matt Parkinson firmly to long off and a brilliant run and dive from Joe Denly prevents the boundary.

    Three runs scored.

A slender lead for the hosts on a much better day for batting than we saw on Friday or Saturday.

Plenty of intrigue in this game now.

A bit overshadowed by Glamorgan but Mason Crane's breakthrough has brought a first bowling point.

It ends a wonderful 265-run partnership with Joe Root at exactly a run-a-ball.

But how's your luck? They now have to find a way through Root and Harry Brook.

The England man is off the mark off his fifth ball with a single.

Root then is touch fortunate as a rare edge brings a four off the luckless Jamie McIlroy.

  10. Lancashire move ahead five downpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 172-5 v Kent 261 - lead by three

By George (Bell and Balderson) they've done it.

The deficit is wiped out and this sixth wicket pair are batting with increasing fluency and confidence.

George Bell picks up four more glancing a leg side ball from Nathan Gilchrist fine.

Bell drives Matt Parkinson to long off for one to bring up the 50 partnership with George Balderson in 84 balls.

  11. Postpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 401-7

Derbyshire removed Jack Carson and Cheteshwar Pujara early this morning but the flow of runs continues with a strong Sussex tail.

Danny Lamb picks up his third boundary with a controlled front foot push wide of slip and down to third man off Blair Tickner.

The eighth-wicket partnership is worth 33 in nine overs.

  12. 'Parkinson might bowl a fair amount of overs today'published at 12:02 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 162-5 v Kent 261 - trail by 8

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

Kent opted to unlike Lancashire to just go with one front-line spinner in this game.

So Matt Parkinson you would assume might bowl a fair amount of overs today.

  13. wicket

WICKET Bean b Crane 173published at 11:59 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 359-3 v Glamorgan 221

You'd have a hard heart not to feel for Mason Crane.

Finlay Bean steps down and plonks the ball straight back over the spinner's head for a mighty six.

He then beats the edge and, what's this, Bean's bowled!

Crane gets some big turn out of the rough which beats Bean's push forward and knocks over off-stump.

What a knock - 24 fours and five sixes in a swashbuckling 189-ball knock.

Some guy called Harry Brook comes in.

  14. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 166-5 v Kent 261 - trail by 3

Leg spinner Matt Parkinson is into his ninth over of the innings and is getting a bit of slow turn.

George Bell tried to force the ball away with a flashing pull shot off the back foot but can't get the ball away.

A VERY tight leave follows outside off stump.

He gets away with a single into the on side and George Balderson sweeps firmly to the fence for four.

  15. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 161-5 v Kent 261 - trail by 8

Nathan Gilchrist drops short and George Bell takes one hand off the bat as he taps the ball away safely for a single.

George Balderson drives into the off side for two more.

Gilchrist switches to bowling round the wicket and the ball is knocked away behind square on the off side for another couple.

The innings gap is down to single figures.

  16. 'That could be crucial'published at 11:51 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 393-7

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

What a breakthrough that is for Derbyshire. That could be crucial.

It was just a tentative prod forward from Cheteshwar Pujara as much as anything.

  17. 300 runs

350 up for Yorkshirepublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 351-2 v Glamorgan 221

Finlay Bean and Joe Root look like they have all the time in the world and can score whenever they feel like it.

A 24th boundary from Bean and then a single off the hapless Mason Crane brings up a third batting point for Yorkshire.

It's come in just the 61st over.

You have to have a measure of sympathy for Glamorgan skipper Sam Northeast.

And Harry Brook is still to come.

  18. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 155-5 v Kent 261 - trail by 14

The Red Rose battle to 150 in the 40th over as George Balderson moves back and tucks a short ball from Nathan Gilchrist safely into the on side for a single.

He attacks the spin of Matt Parkinson at the other end with a lofted drive between mid on and mid wicket for four.

A single off the fourth ball and George Bell defends.

  19. 250 runs

250 partnershippublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 344-2 v Glamorgan 221

Joe Root is enjoying himself here and takes back-to-back boundaries off Jamie McIlroy's second over of the morning.

A deft nudge for a single then brings up the 250 partnership with Finlay Bean.

It's only the 11th time a Yorkshire third-wicket pair have achieved that and it comes off just 266 balls.

I wonder how many times a certain G. Boycott or L. Hutton has made that list?

The lead is up to 123. As easy as that.

  20. Sussex pass 400 at Derbypublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 401-7

A couple of early Sussex wickets have boosted Derbyshire hopes but the visiting team remain in the ascendency.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice takes Sussex past 400 with a front foot nudge to third man for two runs off the bowling of Jack Morley.

A healthy lead continues to build.
