George Bell tries to drive through extra cover but can't find the gap.

The final ball of the over is full outside off and driven square for no run.

    Maiden over.

While Sam Robson has played a very Sam Robson-like innings, watchful when required and punishing when the bad ball is offered.

Leus du Plooy is happy to play the attacking role and moves to fifty for the third time this season.

He thumps a four off Rehan Ahmed to move to 48 and then almost goes next ball to a ball which got some unexpected bounce.

It's a false shot but brings three.

He saw off some excellent disciplined bowling from Leicestershire attack this morning and then accelerated to his 35th first-class half-century off 89 balls.

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Up goes the finger and Glamorgan were keen on that one for obvious reasons and Joe Root's superb innings comes to an end for 156, including 21 fours.

What a superb knock, showing his class, a class of a seasoned England international in the county game.

He has just played nicely all round the wicket as well as the elegance of his drives.

  12. 150 for Joe Rootpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 426-3 v Glamorgan 221

What can you say about this guy?

Joe Root plays a rare false shot and bottom edges a Jamie Harris ball which kept low.

He almost chops on but it whistles past off-stump and the dive of wicketkeeper Chris Cooke and it brings up his 150 off 158 balls.

He's made it look pretty effortlessly, in all honesty, in a way only Joe Root can.

    Bring on the Test summer.

  13. SUSSEX ALL OUT FOR 479published at 12:42 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Hudson-Prentice c Madsen b Morley 34

He's taken a fair bit of tap in this innings, but one ball after Fynn Hudson-Prentice is down the track to loft the ball straight for four.

He's caught at long off by Wayne Madsen trying to repeat the stroke.

A mammoth total nonetheless and a very handy lead of 233.

The last four Sussex wickets added 95 runs in less than 22 overs.

Jack Leaning is in the attack and George Balderson misses out on dispatching a full toss. He remains on 48.

Out! That's a brilliant catch from Daniel Bell-Drummond at gully off a ball that may have deflected off the keeper.

    Very sharp, low chance.

Crucial breakthrough for Kent and Matty Hurst is in next.

  18. dropped catch

Bell dropped on 27published at 12:32 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 91 & 196-5 v Kent 261 - lead by 27

George Balderson moves to 44 with a thick edge down to third man off Wes Agar.

This stand is becoming more than a little frustrating for Kent after the early dismissal of Tom Bruce this morning.

George Bell is nearly undone on 27 tryng to cut a shorter ball from Matt Parkinson but Zak Crawley can't hang on at first slip.

    Sharp chance but catchable.

    Yorkshire 405-3 v Glamorgan 221

Joe Root takes yet another single off Thomas Bevan and takes Yorkshire to a fourth batting point.

He takes two off Tom Scriven and goes to a well-made half-century.

    That's a 47th first-class fifty for Robson and it's brought up off 107 deliveries.

It also brings up the 50 partnership between he and Leus du Plooy.
