  1. 'Hurst has been patient so far in this innings'published at 14:05 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 228-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 59

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

Credit to Matty Hurst with the way he's gone about this innings so far because we saw a completely different style of knock from when he came into the crease and Lancashire were 40-7 and it was broke or bust type of stuff from him yesterday.

He's really been patient so far in this innings.

  2. Postpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Middlesex 175-2 v Leics 306

It's getting decidedly gloomy at Lord's and the floodlights have burst into life.

There's been a definite change of gear after lunch from the Middlesex batters.

Sam Robson has made 70 and Leus du Plooy moves to 64 with his eighth boundary.

    Middlesex looking strong.

  3. Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 & 32-0 v Sussex 479 - trail by 201

Not a great first over this afternoon from Fynn Hudson-Prentice, who spears one ball down the leg side and bowls an overpitched delivery on the line of off.

Both balls are dispatched for four by Derbyshire captain David Lloyd for four runs.

The fifth ball of the over is again leg side and clipped through mid wicket for four more.

Still a mountain to climb for Derbyshire though.

  4. 250 lead for Yorkspublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 475-4 v Glamorgan 221

Jack Tattersall guides Kiran Carlson down to third man and some scurrying between the wickets form Jack Brook brings three and takes the Yorkshire lead past 250.

  5. Postpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 228-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 59

A bit more width again from Matt Parkinson as Matty Hurst turns a leg side ball square for two.

A well-flighted ball is driven and well stopped in the covers.

Just the two from the over.

  6. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 226-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 57

A very loose, wide ball from Matt Parkinson to start but the over ends as a maiden nonetheless.

The Aussie overseas bowler Wes Agar is back into the attack to bowl to George Bell from the Statham End.

Bell gets his first run of the afternoon with a careful push to point for a single.

    Matt Hurst leaves outside off.

The last ball is a bit leg side and clipped square for one.

  7. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 469-4 v Glamorgan 221

A Harry Brook single and a two from Jonathan Tattersall in the first over after lunch from Kiran Carlson.

Brook brings out a stylish cut to dispatch Jamie McIlroy's first ball of the afternoon session to the boundary and then collects a single to move to 43.

McIlroy aims a kick at the turf as he turns back to his mark as Tattersall helps himself to two more followed by a single. The lead is 248.

We're 83 overs into the innings and still no sign of the new ball yet.

  8. Play resumes at Derbypublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 & 19-0 v Sussex 479 - trail by 214

Openers David Lloyd and Luis Reece return to the middle with a simple mission. Bat, bat and bat.

    Simple in theory anyway.

Lloyd is on strike first this afternoon, facing Jayden Seales.

  9. Afternoon session begins at Old Traffordpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 224-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 55

The bell has rung and George Bell (41 not out) returns to the middle with Matt Hurst, who is on 15.

Leg spinner Matt Parkinson to bowl to Hurst from the Anderson End.

  10. Play back under way at Lord'spublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Middlesex 158-2 v Leicestershire 306

Leus du Plooy and Sam Robson are back out in the middle as they look to chip away at that 148-run deficit.

They're six runs away from a century partnership, too.

Ben Mike to open up for Leicestershire.

  11. Afternoon session begins at Headingleypublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 458-4 v Glamorgan 221

How many more before the declaration comes?

The lead is 237 as Harry Brook and Jonathan Tattersall go back out to bat.

    Kiran Carlson opens for Glamorgan.

  12. 'Middlesex will be in a strong position if Sam Robson and Leus du Plooy carry on'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lunch: Middlesex 158-2 v Leics 306

    Guy Swindells
    BBC Radio London

Sam Robson and Leus du Plooy, if not without the odd alarm, have batted very well.

They have put on 94 together for the third wicket and if they carry on for another hour afterwards then Middlesex will be in a very strong position indeed.

  14. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Derbys 246 & 11-0 v Sussex 479 - trail by 214

The Derbyshire openers see out a mini session of play lasting five overs and go into lunch with all 10 second-innings wickets in hand.

The Sussex tail wagged ferociously this morning after the early loss of Jack Carson and Cheteshwar Pujara, pushing the innings lead up to 233.

Three wickets each for Derbyshire's Daryn Dupavillon and Jack Morley.

  15. 'An afternoon declaration in prospect'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lunch: Yorkshire 458-4 v Glamorgan 221

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

England batter Joe Root is certainly making the most of his early-season time with Yorkshire as he cruised to a second century in the space of four matches, driving fluently from the start and reaching three figures in exactly 100 balls in the very welcome Headingley sunshine.

The labouring visitors did not help themselves when Colin Ingram shelled a simple slip catch off Mir Hamza when Finlay Bean was still on his overnight score of 140.

Bean and Root cruised on in a remorseless run-a-ball partnership of 265 until the persevering leg-spinner Mason Crane turned one sharply to bowl Bean for 173 and earn Glamorgan their first point of the game.

Root was finally trapped lbw by seamer James Harris for 156 off 165, but with Harry Brook quickly into his stride, Yorkshire had maximum points before the new ball came, with an afternoon declaration in prospect.

  16. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 224-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 55

George Bell cuts Joe Denly into the off side for one as Grant Stewart does the fielding.

Quite an even session of play this morning with Kent grabbing two wickets and Lancashire batting with good fluency and determination for a slender lead.

Matty Hurst gets a single off the last ball into the off side and that's lunch. He's 15 not out and George Bell is unbeaten on 41.

Remember, Bell could've been caught at slip by Zak Crawley off the bowling of Parkinson this morning. Not an easy chance though.

  17. 'Lancashire need something sizeable'published at 13:13 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 220-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 51

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A little partnership building again for Lancashire but they need something sizable.

It looked something was developing between George Balderson and George Bell and it was, they got to 75. The biggest partnership of the match.

  18. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Yorkshire 458-4 v Glamorgan 221

Yorkshire have continued on their merry way this morning and piled on 163 more runs to take their lead to a commanding 237.

Finlay Bean and Joe Root both passed 150 before falling to Mason Crane and Jamie Harris respectively.

Harry Brook has played within himself but biffed 37 off 50 balls, and Jonathan Tattersall has 24 off 23 balls.

  19. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Middlesex 158-2 v Leics 306

Middlesex have worked themselves into a strong position at Lord's.

The hosts lost Max Holden to the fifth ball of the morning, but Leus du Plooy (55*) and Sam Robson (65*) have batted with discipline against tight Leicestershire bowling, particularly from Ben Mike.

Both have brought up their fifties, in somewhat contrasting styles, to take their second-wicket partnership to 94.

They have moved to 158-2 and trail by 148.

  20. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 5 May 2024

    Lancs 92 & 222-6 v Kent 261 - lead by 53

Matt Parkinson drops a tad short and Matty Hurst pulls the ball away for one.

The leg spinner returns to bowling over the wicket and Hurst plays and misses. Just.

Hurst defends. Time for one more over before lunch.
