  1. 'Some very brown patches across the square'published at 12:21 BST 20 September

    Dave Bradley
BBC Hereford & Worcester cricket commentator

We're playing maybe three pitches over from the middle of the square here at Trent Bridge.

The rest of square looking very bare as all squares do at this time of the year, some very brown patches across it.

Scrambled seam from Matthew Waite sees Ali Orr edge one but the ball does not carry to wicket-keeper Gareth Roderick who does well to prevent four runs.

Orr played that with soft hands, meaning the ball was not close to carrying once it went past him.

  3. 'Waite and Allison have settled into their work'published at 12:17 BST 20 September

    Hants 85-1 v Worcs

    Michael Carberry
Former England batter on BBC Radio Solent

It was a big breakthrough for Worcestershire. Things were just starting to get a little bit itchy with the partnership growing but they've managed to break it.

Now it's a case of can they put Ali Orr under pressure and force him into a mistake?

Matthew Waite and Ben Allison have settled into their work. The older the ball has got has forced them to home in on that line and length.

It's a proud day for Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson - he's been down to the boundary edge and signed a few autographs for Pears followers in the ground. Maybe that wicket is what put a smile on his face.

Fletcha Middleton comes to the crease for Hampshire as Worcestershire look to seize their opportunity.

Ben Allison's fourth over is solid, finding a consistent length, with just a single coming off it.

  6. 'An absolutely vital breakthrough'published at 12:12 BST 20 September

That's the breakthrough that Worcestershire needed.

That is an absolutely vital breakthrough, when it looked as though these two were booked in for bed & breakfast Matthew Waite makes the breakthrough.

Really good bit of bowling and good catch from Henry Cullen.

    Boy did Worcestershire need that!

Matthew Waite has been accurate since he was brought on and he gets Nick Gubbins to push at one.

He can only provide a leading edge and it is a good diving catch from Henry Cullen going down to his right side.

Finally, Hampshire's opening resistance is broken in the 17th over.

Another run out chance for Jake Libby, who has a shy at the stumps from mid off, but this time Ali Orr would have been home even if there had been a hit.

Another uneventful over goes by as Hampshire take singles whenever they can.

Four from Matthew Waite's second over.

  11. 'Pears have persisted coming around the wicket'published at 12:00 BST 20 September

    Hants 73-0 v Worcs

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Solent

It's been a very good start for Hampshire.

Worcestershire have persisted quite stubbornly with coming around the wicket to the left-handed openers and the ball's not swinging much. There's been too many that have been too straight and it's been just a bit easy to clip down the leg side.

The Rapids have reduced the run rate in recent overs and that could prove to be important come this evening.

With the clouds still looming over Trent Bridge, and rain expected this afternoon, it is still hard to tell what is a par score on this pitch today.

Just the three from Ben Allison's second over.

  13. Postpublished at 13.3 overs

    Hants 71-0 v Worcs

A good first over from Matthew Waite, who goes for just four runs.

In the first ball of Ben Allison's second over, Ali Orr looks to hook a short one and top edges but the ball manages to land safe in between two fielders back on the rope.

A single from Nick Gubbins means he has now surpassed 700 runs in the competition this season.

It also means he is the highest run-scorer in the Metro Bank One Day Cup in 2025.

  15. 'Ball not doing as much all of a sudden'published at 11:53 BST 20 September

    Hants 66-0 v Worcs

    Nikesh Rughani
    Commentator on BBC Radio Solent

All of a sudden in the last couple of overs the ball is not doing as much as much as it has been throughout the innings.

It's getting a little bit softer.

Another change of bowling for the Rapids, Matthew Waite is on, replacing Tom Taylor.

  17. Postpublished at 11.3 overs

Ali Orr picks up a short delivery from Ben Allison and finds a gap in the leg side boundary for four.

Hampshire have hit 10 boundaries already at the beginning of this final.

  18. Postpublished at 11 overs

    Hants 57-0 v Worcs

An accurate over from Tom Taylor, whose bowling has been sharper than Khurram Shahzad's so far, sees him go for just two runs in the eleventh.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, change of bowling for the Rapids as Shahzad is replaced by Ben Allison.

  19. 'I would take Shahzad out of the attack'published at 11:45 BST 20 September

    Hants 55-0 v Worcs

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

When Khurram Shahzad bowled three overs, I said I would definitely whip him out of the attack if I was Jake Libby and get Ben Allison on.

This has turned from a promising start to a very, very good start for Hampshire. Put into bat, they would have been a little bit concerned the conditions early on but the two left-handers have played really well.

  20. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Hants 55-0 v Worcs

A fine shot from captain Nick Gubbins, who cuts into the off side, nicely finishes off the first powerplay for Hampshire who race on to 55-0 after 10.
