  1. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 150-3 (lead by 211)

Jack Leach is back on after a short break and a quickfire two-over spell from Lewis Gregory as Somerset seek to break this pair.

He is getting some turn out of this green pitch and looks capable of taking a wicket for all that he has drawn a blank in 13 overs so far.

  2. 50 runs

for Coxpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 145 & Essex 206 & 146-3 (lead by 207 runs)

Jordan Cox brings up his half-century with a four off Migael Pretorius, the first 50 of the match from either side.

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory has joined responsibility at the other end as they try to break this stubborn partnership between Cox and Matt Critchley.

They might feel a little peeved that Jack Leach was not given the latter's wicket lbw in the final over of his spell but he wasn't given and the lead is now up to 207.

    Thompson c sub (Ali) b Barnard 7 (Yorkshire 205 & 191-7 v Warwickshire 253)

It's another nice piece of work from Ed Barnard who's shaped one in late to the left-handed Jordan Thompson.

That draws a mis-hit from Thompson and he pops it up to substitute fielder Taz Ali at cover who won't pocket an easier catch this season.

Three wickets left for Yorkshire. The lead is 143. Even more on Joe Root's shoulders.

  4. Postpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 189-6 v Warwickshire 253

Clearly Joe Root is the key to Yorkshire being confident in setting a match-winning lead.

He moves 20 away from his century after another beautiful shot - a pristine square-cut off Ed Barnard - that screams away for four.

  5. 100 runs

Century for Daniel Bell-Drummondpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 3 May

    Middlesex 238 v Kent 129 & 226-4

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond has found some form at just the right time for his side.

After seven low scores this season, the 31-year-old brings up his 19th first-class century.

He'll need to go on though - Kent's lead is still only 117.

  6. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 182-6 v Warwickshire 253

Jordan Thompson gets a spitter from Ethan Bamber from around the wicket and can only fend it off instinctively from in front of his face.

It flies to where a gully would be - if Warwickshire had one.

Thompson trots through for a single.

Joe Root then square cuts the next one for four. He's up to 75.

In Ed Barnard's next over Thompson helps himself to one on his pads and clips it for four, like all left-handers seemed to be able to do, whatever number they bat.

  7. 'Somerset have to keep target below 250'published at 17:33 British Summer Time 3 May

    Essex 206 & 125-3 v Somerset 145

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset simply must take another two or three wickets here this evening.

You'd argue that Essex are already just about out of sight but Somerset have got to keep the target below 250. Anything above that really is implausible to see them chasing it down on this pitch against the Essex attack.

  8. Close callpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 3 May

    Essex 206 & 125-3 v Somerset 145

That looks out but it has not been given.

Matt Critchley, on 11, has prodded forward a straight one from Jack Leach and it has hit him bang in front of off stump.

Nigel Llong has decided it was missing but that looked very 'close', as they say.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hill c Webster b Barnard 8 (Yorkshire 205 & 170-6 v Warwickshire 253)

    George Hill goes.

Ed Barnard puts one on a two-pound coin and Hill edges it straight into the bags of Beau Webster at second slip.

Never dropping that. Hands like skips.

Yorkshire's lead is 122 - doesn't feel like enough at the moment.

  10. Five-wicket haulpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 3 May

    Leics 304 & 52-5 v Northants 191

Ben Sanderson celebrates taking wicketImage source, Rex Features

Outstanding from Northants seamer Ben Sanderson.

He gets Leicestershire number three Rehan Ahmed and now has all five wickets to fall in this second innings.

It was an ugly shot by Ahmed, a big swing and caught at slip.

    The Leicestershire lead is 165.

  11. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 165-5 v Warwickshire 253

Warwickshire keeping Yorkshire where they want them - bogged down.

It's been a crawl for the home side who've taken six off the past six overs.

George Hill's played and missed loads to Ethan Bamber and Michael Booth and even Joe Root's been becalmed.

Bamber thought he'd picked up the former England captain in his last over and it looked mighty close to taking the outside edge.

There's still just enough movement to cause real headaches for the batters.

Hill does relieve some of the pressure with a cover drive for four in Bamber's next over.

  12. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hampshire 61-1 v Durham 511

Bit of break in play at Southampton while the physio deals with an injury to Brendan Doggett who has jammed his knee into the turf as he went to field in the deep.

The medic scurries over to him but he is already up and performing a rather ungainly walk trying to shake off the pain by the time he gets his bag of magic sponges open.

In contrast, Hampshire's batsmen Mark Stoneman (32) and Nick Gubbins (12) are gliding gracefully at 61-1. They trail by 450 and with no breakthroughs for Durham the contest is in a holding pattern.

  13. Sanderson shines for Northantspublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 3 May

    Division Two latest

Leaders Leicestershire are in a bit of trouble on 51-4 in their second innings against Northants. Ben Sanderson has all four wickets - the Foxes lead by 164.

Andy Gorvin also has four wickets for Glamorgan who are in control against Derbyshire. The visitors are 157-6 in Cardiff and still trail by 274.

Kent are making a much best fist of things in their second innings at Lord's. They're 202-3 with Daniel Bell-Drummond on 93 - their advantage is 93.

Runs continue to flow at Old Trafford. Gloucestershire are 107-2, replying to Lancashire's 450 all out.

  14. 'Overton deserves that'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 3 May

    Essex 206 & 102-3 v Somerset 145

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

At last it's Tom Westley who has gone and Craig Overton deserves that.

Westley beaten on the defensive shot by one that ducked back into him.

It looked pretty good from here.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 3 May

    Westley lbw b Overton 26 (Essex 206 & 102-3 v Somerset 145)

Essex have been turning the screw but Craig Overton is not one for giving up and Somerset finally have another chink of light.

Tom Westley might have gone on 14 had the run out been given but, after playing and missing, Overton has fired one in at his pads and the finger goes up.

The partnership with Jordan Cox has been damaging with 57 runs added for the third wicket and the lead extended to 163, but, a flurry of wickets might yet turn this.

    Somerset have to believe.

  16. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 156-5 v Warwickshire 253

    Warwickshire almost go bang, bang.

In Michael Booth's next over he finds the edge of George Hill's bat but the dying ball lands just short of a diving Kai Smith.

Hard to tell conclusively whether that carried as it looked like it hit the ground and the edge of Smith's gauntlet simultaneously. But who knows?

    Hill's still in.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 3 May

    Bairstow c Smith b Bamber 6 (Yorkshire 205 & 155-5 v Warwickshire 253)

Jonny Bairstow's gone as Alex Davies takes one with ice on it.

That's been a bit of an ordeal for the Yorkshire captain, who never settled.

He attempted a short-armed pull to Ethan Bamber and it took a leading edge and went straight up and very high.

A back-peddling Davies shuts out all the calls of 'yours skipper!" to pouch a good catch. He had plenty of time to think about shelling that.

Could be a big moment. Yorkshire's lead is only 107.

  18. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 154-4 v Warwickshire 253

Michael Booth is at it again, first up after tea.

He nips one back into Jonny Bairstow who's hit on the back leg. Warwickshire are VERY confident but the umpire's unmoved.

Bairstow takes a couple of uncomfortable steps forward and rubs his groin emphasizing he felt it was too high.

  19. 'Gubbins' 50th game for Hants'published at 16:45 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hampshire 44-1 v Durham 511

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

This is Nick Gubbins' 50th game for Hampshire having moved from Middlesex.

He's done well. He averages 37 career and he averages 43 for Hampshire in the 49 games to date.

  20. Division Two latestpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 3 May

After his first-innings century, Leicestershire opener Rishi Patel has been dismissed for nought.

But the Foxes are still in a good position against Northants on 23-1 and leading by 136.

Kent have just lost a third wicket at Middlesex. Ryan Higgins got Tawanda Muyeye to leave them 179-3 in their second innings and leading by 70. Daniel Bell-Drummond has 84.

Brooke Guest and Martin Andersson are fighting for Derbyshire at Glamorgan. They've taken them from 72-4 to 141-4 in Cardiff.

Lancashire have picked up a couple of Gloucestershire wickets but the batters are still on top. Gloucestershire are 93-2.
