  1. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 48-2 v Warwickshire 253

Yorkshire can breathe a little easier as they wipe out the deficit on first innings.

Adam Lyth accelerated that process in taking Ethan Bamber for three fours in a row - one a one-handed leg-nudge and two cover drives.

At the other end, Joe Root's timing is nut-sweet as the clips Olly Hannon-Dalby out to mid-wicket for his first boundary.

    Scores level.

    Clark c & b Dawson 160 (Hampshire v Durham 453-8)

Durham batsman Graham ClarkImage source, Getty Images

That is a superb grab off his own bowling from Liam Dawson and it ends a fine innings from Graham Clark.

Clark was starting off to grab what should have been a simple single but Dawson has flung himself through the air in his follow through and taken a worldie in the middle of the next strip.

Great work and a very good innings from Clark who has steered Durham from real trouble at 82-4 to a very healthy 450 plus.

  3. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 30-2 v Warwickshire 253

Before his one-off appearance Joe Root said he would love to try to do something 'cool' for his county and the current match situation gives him the perfect chance to do something special.

The way Warwickshire have started has cranked the heat up on the Tykes but nothing a Root innings couldn't transform.

He was understandably rusty in the first innings - his first knock in anger for two months - but he looks better oiled so far - the way he gets forward, head right over the ball, on the balls of his feet, bat and pad glued.

We've seen a nicely timed clip off his legs to get off the mark.

    It's his 100th first-class innings for Yorkshire.

    I'll leave it there...

    Pretorius c&b Harmer 24 (Somerset 137-9 v Essex 206)

That is a very sharp catch off his own bowling from Simon Harmer.

Migael Pretorius has been taking the fight to Essex, first to Sam Cook who he hit for consecutive fours and then to Harmer.

Unfortunately for the Taunton crowd, who were starting to enjoy this, Pretorius has been caught by Harmer, diving sharply to his right and grabbing a straightish drive one handed.

That was an entertaining cameo from the South African who has helped to put on 29 for the ninth wicket and reduce the deficit to a more manageable 69.

  5. Postpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 124-8 (trail by 82 runs) v Essex 206

That is one way to deal with Simon Harmer, Migael Pretorius taking aim and lifting him down the ground for four.

The South African has been in fine form with ball this season but has weighed in really strongly with the bat as well with 59, 54 and 49* already.

He is playing Harmer as well as any of his batting team-mates and these are valuable runs for Somerset.

  6. 'I can't see this game going into Monday'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 108-8 v Essex 206

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

I can't see this game going into Monday. Jack Leach is going to have to take a stack of wickets if Somerset are to get back into this.

  7. 'Yorkshire are in big trouble here'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 19-2 v Warwickshire 253

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

A miserable match unfortunately for James Wharton, just getting four.

He gets an apology from Adam Lyth as he walks by.

Yorkshire are in big trouble here.

    Wharton run out (Barnard) 4 ( Yorkshire 205 & 19-2 v Warwickshire 253)

    Chaos.

Adam Lyth turns Olly Hannon-Dalby out to mid-wicket. There's a call. Then a 'hang on'. Then a 'no!'

James Wharton is half-way down the pitch, slams on the brakes but can't get back in time as Ed Barnard's throw, while not the best, is gathered by a stumbling ODH who demolishes the stumps with Wharton nowhere.

    What a mess.

    He comes Joe Root again.

  9. 'Difficult to see how Hampshire can win'published at 13:55 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hants v Durham 441-7

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Durham are in a very, very good position.

It's difficult to see where Hampshire are going to win the game from here, so it's really about Durham getting as big a score as they can in the innings and hoping the pitch changes nature a little bit to give them a chance to try and bowl Hampshire out twice.

It was a good toss to win yesterday morning.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 3 May

    Gregory lbw b Cook 14 (Somerset 108-8 v Essex 206)

And Lewis Gregory is on his way after falling lbw to England bound Sam Cook.

That was a terrible leave, pushing his front pad at a delivery that was tracking on to his off stump.

Gregory has shouldered arms and hoped that the ball was missing but, while it has probably hit outside the line, that will not save him.

That was going to hit, the finger went up quickly and there was no argument to be made.

  11. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 13-1 v Warwickshire 253

Olly Hannon-Dalby opens up after lunch and after five dots, Adam Lyth tucks one off his hip for a single behind square-leg to bring up Yorkshire's first run in seven overs.

Lyth then unfurls a cover drive to Ethan Bamber's first ball and it's pulled up just in front of the rope. They run three.

James Wharton down to face, desperate to avoid a pair.

  12. 150 runs

150 for Clarkpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hants v Durham 440-7

This has been a terrifically disciplined knock from Graham Clark who has bided his time and reached his 150 with a single off the third delivery after lunch from Liam Dawson.

  13. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 3 May

Our seven games are back under way for the afternoon session.

A fascinating couple of hours in store...

  14. 'Honours even for first session'published at 13:37 British Summer Time 3 May

    Glamorgan 431 v Derbyshire

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

It was honours even for the first session in Cardiff as Glamorgan added 95 more runs for the loss of their last four wickets.

Colin Ingram fell for 81 in the first over, hooking Blair Tickner straight to fine leg, but a stand of 86 between Timm van der Gugten (62) and Andy Gorvin (39) occupied most of the morning.

Tickner bowled fast and short while Anuj Dal beat the bat without success before the batting pair settled in to accumulate gently.

Spin eventually did the trick for Derbyshire as former Glamorgan skipper David Lloyd claimed two wickets and Alex Thomson one.

Derbyshire will have to apply themselves on a pitch where fast scoring has been at a premium after Asa Tribe’s early strokeplay.

  15. 'Momentum all with Essex'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 106-7 v Essex 206

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

One over ambitious shot sparked another Somerset collapse to leave Essex in a very strong position at lunch.

The overnight pair of Andy Umeed and Josh Davey had looked relatively comfortable in adding a further 37 before Umeed’s inelegant attempted slog sweep at Simon Harmer opened the door for the visitors.

After Davey’s stoic effort was ended by Jamie Porter Harmer returned to remove Tom Abell and Tom Lammonby, the left hander’s dismissal having an air of inevitability.

Kasun Rajitha then bowled an impressive five over spell, getting Tom Blanton to play on before having James Rew caught behind. He appears to be excellent cover for Sam Cook for the rest of May.

Somerset need to at least halve this deficit but the momentum is all with Essex.

  16. 'Pitch assisting seamers'published at 13:20 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 9-1 v Warwickshire 253 - lunch, day two

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

This interesting pitch continues to offer assistance to all the seam bowlers – but only if the ball is put in the right place.

Not all the Yorkshire bowlers managed to do that this morning, and Beau Webster was on hand to deliver some long-handled punishment.

In his first innings for Warwickshire, the giant Australian was offered a selection of gifts by his countryman Jordan Buckingham, also recently off the plane and struggling to find his rhythm.

Webster beat out his own rhythm by peppering the ball into the offside fence, five times in three Buckingham overs.

Jonny Bairstow tried to restrain Webster by standing up to Ben Coad’s bowling - Webster’s response was to scoop the next ball directly over the keeper’s head for six.

By the time he pulled a Ben Sears ball to midwicket to be last out, Warwickshire had opened up a lead of 48, with Webster’s innings effectively the difference between the two teams.

It left Yorkshire to face a half-hour examination from Warwickshire’s opening bowlers.

Dom Bess may need reassuring after this game that opening the batting is not always as difficult as this.

Ethan Bamber set Bess up for the second time in the match. He tailed a couple of deliveries in late, just after passing the stumps.

Apparently now unsure whether to play or not, Bess poked at the last ball of Bamber’s second over, which ducked through the gate to flatten off stump.

James Wharton and Adam Lyth did well to fend off six successive maidens to get to lunch without further damage.

Hampshire spinner Liam Dawson has two wickets

A solid effort from Durham who have not tried to rush things but are focusing on a significant accumulation of first innings runs.

Graham Clark (149*) has been the foundation on which they have looked to build and 104-2 in 29 overs gives them bragging rights on the morning's play.

Liam Dawson has picked up the two wickets and Felix Organ should have had added Codi Yusuf to the haul only for Brad Wheal to drop a regulation catch at mid off.

Leicestershire celebrate wicketImage source, Rex Features

Table-toppers Leicestershire have enjoyed an excellent hour before lunch with the ball.

They've taken five quick wickets as Northants fell from 73-1 to 87-6 at lunch and still trail by 217.

Lancashire's lower order is wagging against Gloucestershire to take them to 437-8.

A half-century from Timm van der Gugten helped Glamorgan make 431 all out against Derbyshire.

And Middlesex remain in control against Kent at Lord's. After posting 238 - a first-innings lead of 109 - they have Kent 25-1 in their second innings.

England's Zak Crawley is unbeaten on nine.

  20. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 106-7 (trail by 100 runs) v Essex 206

Very much the visitors' session with Somerset slumping from 46-1 to 106-7 at lunch and the hosts have a bit of thinking to do over the course of their courses.

Simon Harmer's spin has done three wickets worth of damage but the ever-reliable seam of Jamie Porter and that of Kasun Rajitha, who has chipped in with the wickets of Tom Banton and James Rew have put Essex in the driving seat.

Lewis Gregory, Craig Overton and Migael Pretorius can all bat and will look to reduce a 100 run deficit in the afternoon session but there is hard graft ahead.
