  1. wicket

DURHAM 511 ALL OUTpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 3 May

    Doggett c Albert b Organ 17

Felix Organ gains a wicket and avoids a century against him (1-96) as Durham's innings comes to a close.

Brendan Doggett looks to turn that around his legs for four but picks out the fielder at a widish short fine.

That will be an early tea at Southampton and, given Durham were 82-4 there will be much head scratching over it as to how they have wriggled off the hook.

Graham Clark is the main part of the answer as the middle order batter produced his career best first class innings making it to 160.

  2. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 3 May

    Essex 206 & 34-1 v Somerset 145

Simon Harmer got some joy from this pitch returning 4-43 as Somerset crumbled this morning and now the hosts bring spin into the attack with Jack Leach.

  3. 'Lyth didn't have to play at that'published at 15:19 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 97-3 v Warwickshire 253

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Adam Lyth will know that he didn't have to play at that. It's not hitting any of the stumps but it's just one of those attractive heights that a batter wants to push at and that's really what's served Ed Barnard well.

It did nip off the pitch to be fair, it felt like it swung a little bit and then continued off the seam in that same direction away from the bat.

Credit to Barnard to be able to find a delivery good enough to take his wicket.

  4. 500 up for Durhampublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hants v Durham 501-9

Brendan Doggett brings up the 500 for Durham with a second consecutive four off Sonny Baker.

The second is a perfect on drive which sails back past the bowler straight to the long on boundary... at great pace.

Doggett holding his pose as the ball travelled to the rope did nothing for Baker's mood and two short balls that follow are not the biggest surprise.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lyth c Smith b Barnard 40 (Yorkshire 205 & 90-3 v Warwickshire 253

    A lapse from Adam Lyth?

Nice work from Ed Barnard, as he gets one to nip away just enough to take the edge of a poking Lyth.

Kai Smith makes no mistake as he takes it moving in front of a wide slip.

Did Lyth have to play at that? Given the angle from Barnard, probably did.

Excellent stand of 71 but Yorkshire not yet comfy.

    Harry Brook's up next.

  6. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 90-2 v Warwickshire 253

Lovely stuff again from Joe Root.

He's got a big stride into a flowing cover drive to Beau Webster and tans it away for four.

Two balls later, he's adjusting at the last second to steer one just past a diving second slip for another boundary.

He saves the best until last, as he leans into it, bat-maker's name right in the face of the bowler, and the ball speeds to the rope through straight mid-off.

He ends the over with a couple. 14 off it.

    Root starting to cruise.

    Yorkshire 42 ahead.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 3 May

    Parkinson c Prest b Dawson 15 (Hants v Durham 492-9)

Callum Parkinson seemed to have been given the nod to put his foot down at the Utilita Bowl but has danced his last dance down the wicket to Liam Dawson.

Sonny Baker's last over went for 13 and Parkinson sets off against Dawson in the same vein but edges a mighty whoosh to slip.

Dawson has battled hard for his five wicket haul (5-144) and Hampshire are close to ending this Durham innings.

  8. 50 runs

stand for Lyth and Rootpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 75-2 v Warwickshire 253

Joe Root battingImage source, Rex Features

It's only Yorkshire's second 50-plus partnership of the match but it's come at an especially vital time.

Aptly, the milestone is reach thanks to more immaculate timing from Joe Root who caresses a slightly full one from Ed Barnard to the cover point boundary.

The Bears aren't happy with the ball - neither are the umpires - and after a quick look in the stationary cupboard, they've got a 'new' one.

Beau Webster then over-pitches with it and he's steered away with grace through wide mid-on by Adam Lyth for four.

He's up to 40. The lead is 27.

  9. 'Elgar is absolutely critical here'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 3-1

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

That's a bonus for Somerset because they've got Jack Leach to come.

Tom Westley's not in the best of form and I think Dean Elgar is absolutely critical here but if they can just unsettle Essex...

They've got to make something quite remarkable happen here. Really we're looking at them bowling Essex out for 80 or 90 but that's a start and if they got a couple more quickly it'll lift this crowd and it will become tricky for the Essex batters.

  10. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 65-2 v Warwickshire 253

Adam Lyth gets a life. It's a very hard chance to Beau Webster on his follow through but a chance nonetheless.

Lyth check drives the ball back and it passes the big Aussie around shoulder high as he dips after delivery.

He gets his left hand to it but can't hold it.

Hands on head from both slips.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 3 May

    Walter lbw b Davey 0 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 3-1)

    Somerset have an early wicket.

Paul Walter looked like he was glued to the crease... in diving boots... as Josh Davey, Somerset's leading first innings scorer with the bat as nightwatchman, has his first wicket with the ball.

Walter is pinned in his crease and rapped in front of leg stump to give the hosts a little hope. They still trail by 72 runs.

  12. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hants v Durham 473-8

Codi Yusuf, who was dropped on 10 before lunch, is making best use of his luck to push Durham's score on here.

He has opened up twice against Liam Dawson in this over edging an expansive swish past slip for four and now dancing elegantly down the pitch to whack a lovely lifted drive over mid off.

Yusuf is up to 34 and Durham are heading for 500.

  13. Elsewhere in Division Two...published at 14:43 British Summer Time 3 May

Leaders Leicestershire are on top against Northants. Logan van Beek has picked up three wickets with Northants on 135-7 and still trailing by 169.

Lancashire were finally bowled out for 450 at Old Trafford. Gloucestershire are 16-0 in reply.

Glamorgan have picked up a couple of early Derbyshire wickets after making 431 in their first innings. David Lloyd and Harry Came are both gone with Derbyshire on 41-2.

  14. 50 runs

for Zak Crawleypublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 3 May

    Middlesex 238 v Kent 128 & 87-1

Zak Crawley battingImage source, Rex Features

That'll make Zak Crawley feel a bit better before England's Test against Zimbabwe later this month.

The Kent opener goes to his half-century at Lord's following a first-innings failure - a third fifty of the summer.

It's typically boundary-laden with eight fours and has come in good time, off 62 balls.

    Kent are back in this.

  15. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 61-2 v Warwickshire 253

Yorkshire's lead is only 13 but when you look down at the names - Lyth, Root, Brook, Bairstow - it's not hard to see how they could wrestle this game back away from the Bears.

Beau Webster is now thundering in with the ball after his thunderous exploits with the bat this morning, giving Lyth a thorough workout around his off stump from around the wicket.

He gives Lyth a bit too much width with the final ball and it's an easy dab down the deep third for a single to pinch the strike.

  16. 'This is shaping up into a smashing game'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 61-2 v Warwickshire 253

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

In a game that has been as closely fought as this one, it could be that one good hour for either team might settle it.

There's been some smashing games around in the Championship already this season and this is shaping up to be another one of them.

Both these teams have been involved in some close games so far.

  17. 'Clark's highest score'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hampshire v Durham 453-8

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Graham Clark's long stay at the crease has finally come to an end - after around six and a half hours.

He came in yesterday at 13:54 BST and has just fallen for 160, the victim of a brilliant piece of reactionary fielding from bowler Liam Dawson. Clark thought he'd driven Dawson towards the boundary but the bowler dived into the air to snatch the ball one-handed as it was passing over his head.

It's the batsman's highest score. When he came in Durham were 82-4. When he left the field they were 453-8.

He put on partnerships of 124 for the fifth wicket with Ollie Robinson and 163 for the sixth with George Drissell. That was a record sixth wicket stand for Durham against Hampshire.

If nothing else, they appear to be in a position where they can't lose, but taking 20 wickets on a track as flat as this one may take some doing. And it's a used track as well!

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 3 May

    Overton c Cook b Porter 12 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206)

That is a tame end to the innings as Craig Overton chips Jamie Porter to Sam Cook who takes a catch diving forward at mid on.

Somerset briefly threatened to reduce that deficit to manageable proportions but go in to the break trailing by 61 which on this wicket could be a huge handicap.

One wicket seemed to bring plenty with the hosts slipping from 46-1 to 97-7 (losing 51-6) before the tail wagged a little.

Not enough as it turns out but we shall wait and see what the Somerset bowlers can make of this pitch which looks to have plenty in it.

  19. 50 runs

for Yorkshirepublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 3 May

    Yorkshire 205 & 53-2 v Warwickshire 253

Classic Joe Root shot to bring up the 50 for the home side.

It's short from Ethan Bamber and Root is up on to his toes and cuffing it away at the apex of the bounce out in front of square to the fence.

How many times have we seen that shot over the years?

    Loads, lad.

  20. 'Catch of the season already for me'published at 14:21 British Summer Time 3 May

    Hampshire v Durham 453-8

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

That was catch of the season already for me by Liam Dawson.

A wonderful knock from Graham Clark to put his side in a wonderful position.
