  1. 'Lawrence looks a bit more comfy'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 177-2 v Yorkshire 255

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

The worry here for Yorkshire is that the run-rate is up to 3.74 an over.

Dan Lawrence looks a bit more comfy after lunch as well, but still looks like he's feeling his back.

  2. Postpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 139-1 v Notts 407

Ben McKinney is moving through the gears on a good batting pitch as he swats a Brett Hutton bouncer square for his third boundary.

The Durham opener has moved swiftly to 18 off 16 balls.

This looks hard work for the Nottinghamshire bowlers.

  3. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 v Leics 118-4

Just the six runs added to the total for Leicestershire since the lunch break.

A case of digging in and not losing any more wickets for a while for the visitors.

The lead is 114 runs for Middlesex.

  4. 400 up for Lancashirepublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 403-7 v Derbys

Lancashire have lost another set batter as George Bell edges David Lloyd to Wayne Madsen in the slips to fall for a fine 57.

But Tom Hartley has guided the Red Rose to 400 after 137 overs and has 19 off 34 balls. He has Tom Bailey for company.

Just two more wickets before the Burnley Lara joins the fray.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Critchley c Roderick b Allison 15 (Worcs 358 v Essex 75-4)

Ben Allison gets a bit of movement to tie up Matt Critchley who just misjudges it slightly but enough for the ball to find the edge and Essex are four down.

Allison and Tom Taylor have shared the four Essex wickets equally between them and have been very economical too.

Robin Das is on 35 not out and is now joined by Michael Pepper with their side in a spot of bother.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 17 May

    Bancroft c Muyeye b Stewart 26 (Glos 56-1 v Kent 424)

A clearly frustrated Cameron Bancroft has to make his way back to the pavilion after becoming the first Glos wicket to fall.

The Australian looked to be seething with himself in the aftermath of that dismissal.

Grant Stewart makes the breakthrough after his heroics with the bat, getting Bancroft to edge to Tawanda Muyeye who shows safe hands at first slip.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 17 May

    Coles c Overton b Davey 0 (Somerset 338 v Sussex 80-4)

Sussex are in a bit of trouble.

It's on a length just outside off stump from Josh Davey and he tempts new batter James Coles to have a nibble at it.

It flicks the outside edge and flies into the ever-reliable hands of Craig Overton in the slips to see Coles go for a five-ball duck.

A second catch in the space of about eight minutes for Overton and the visitors are creaking.

  8. dropped catch

Patterson dropped on 60published at 14:03 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 165-2 v Yorkshire 255

Oh dear... How costly could this be for Yorkshire?

Kurtis Patterson hammers one into the deep behind square on the leg side and James Wharton sees it all the way but puts it down.

  9. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 80-3

Sussex opener Daniel Hughes responds to Tom Alsop getting out by cleverly guiding one down to third man for four off Josh Davey.

A reminder that Hughes himself was dropped in the slips by Tom Lammonby on eight.

He picks up another single and moves onto 26 and is halfway to third 50 of the season.

  10. 50 runs

50 for Alex Leespublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 126-1 v Notts 407

Durham skipper Alex Lees has looked almost completely untroubled today and brings up his 53rd first-class fifty off 96 balls, with three fours.

The former England Test opener brings up the landmark with a pull off Brett Hutton for his third half-century of the season. Two of them have come off the Nottinghamshire attack.

It's laid a super platform for Durham, but we should say Notts reached 133-1 in their first knock before wickets tumbled.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Ben Kellawaypublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 17 May

    Glamorgan 235-4 v Northants 185

Ben Kellaway joins batting partner Sam Northeast in reaching a half-century.

    Kellaway's came a lot quicker - in 62 balls and 80 minutes.

The duo are moving towards a 100 partnership too as Glamorgan look to keep building that lead which currently stands at 50.

  12. 'It's another big wicket for them'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 75-3

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

Tom Alsop edges into the slip - Craig Overton doesn't drop many, does he?

Somerset keep chipping away, it's another big wicket for them.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 17 May

    Alsop c Overton b Pretorius 13 (Somerset 338 v Sussex 75-3)

    Another important wicket for Somerset!

Tom Alsop gets onto the front foot to defend one in the corridor of uncertainty from Migael Pretorius and it catches the outside edge.

Craig Overton makes no mistake at third slip to take the catch.

You'd say that's definitely advantage Somerset at this stage with a 263-run lead.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 17 May

    Malik b Wheal 8 (Warwicks 120-7 v Hants 300)

Hampshire turn the screw with a quick wicket after lunch.

Brad Wheal has bowled well today and angles one back in through the gate to clip the top of Zen Malik's off-stump.

His brief 13-ball stay comes to an end as the Bears continue to toil.

They look set for a sizable first-innings deficit. Ethan Bamber is in.

  15. Postpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 74-2

A slow and steady start to the afternoon session in the opening couple of overs for Sussex as they tick along to 74-2.

  16. 'He's looked a quality player'published at 13:50 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 111-1 v Notts 407

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

He came in as a nightwatchman, but departs on 67.

    It's a tame dismissal really, I think it's a shame.

It's definitely not the last we will hear of Minto, he's looked a quality player.

You wonder if he might turn into a bowling all-rounder, but from what I've seen he may even push up to an opener.

It's given Notts a chink of light at the start of this session.

  17. 150 runs

150 up for Surreypublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 150-2 v Yorkshire 255

Dan Lawrence tickles one to deep square leg and is able to come through for the single and that brings Surrey onto 150.

Yorkshire need to try and repeat their impressive bowling from the start of the day which helped them get the wickets of Rory Burns and Dom Sibley.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 17 May

    Minto c Hameed b Hutton 67 (Durham 111-1 v Notts 407)

    Nelson strikes again!

James Minto is out to his second ball after lunch as he tries to pull a short ball from Brett Hutton but picks out Haseeb Hameed at square leg.

But a superb innings from the 17-year-old nightwatchman. Well played.

Durham's usual opener Ben McKinney comes to the crease in the 34th over.

  19. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 111-0 v Notts 407

Alex Lees is up and running straight after lunch as he plays his first ball from Mo Abbas fine down to the fine leg boundary.

The Durham skipper moves into the forties and brings up nelson.

Brett Hutton opens up at the other end

Spectators at The Riverside received an unexpected treat when the England Test skipper Ben Stokes came out to go through his paces during the lunch interval.

I have to say in all the years I have known him I don't think I have seen him as svelt as he looked today.

He's spent the last five months recovering from a hamstring injury which he picked up during the tour of New Zealand in the winter. It followed a similar injury in a Hundred game last summer.

Stokes did plenty of shuttle running in front of the media centre, before heading back into the dressing room. He's set to make his return in the Test against Zimbabwe next Thursday.
