    Westley c Roderick b Taylor 6 (Worcs 358 v Essex 9-2)

Worcestershire v EssexImage source, Rex Features

    Another one for the Pears!

Tom Taylor comes flying in and Tom Westley can only edge the ball behind into the gloves of Gareth Roderick as Essex lose a second wicket while still in single figures.

What a start for the hosts at New Road.

  2. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 71-1 v Yorkshire 255

Kurtis Patterson shows us what he's all about as punches a lovely cover drive away for four off Jack White for his first boundary in County Championship cricket.

Text book and timed to perfection.

He then follows it up by nudging into the off side for a single.

Patterson is onto 11 and Dom Sibley is 20 not out.

  3. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 52-0 v Notts 407

James Minto guides Lyndon James into the offside and brings up the fifty partnership off 72 balls.

The youngster has been the main aggressor, with 36 of those runs, while Alex Lees has 13.

Encouragement grows for the hosts. There have been few alarms out there.

  4. Minto playing some fine shotspublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 17 May

Durham 52-0 trail Notts by 355

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Left arm seamer James Minto signed his first rookie contract this week. The 17-year-old is the latest bowler to come through the Durham Academy.

But it's his batting which has been causing a stir this morning. He came in as a nightwatchman last night and faced all six deliveries remaining in the day.

This morning he's hit some beautiful cover drives to the boundary and is now on a career-best 33.

He opens the batting for Norton Cricket Club in the North Yorkshire South Durham League and when he came to Durham's attention as a 14-year-old it was because of his batting.

From what we have seen today I would suggest we now refer to him as an all-rounder. He's hit six boundaries so far.

  5. Six-wicket haulpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 17 May

    Benjamin c Bracey b Singh Dale 93 (Glos v Kent 413-8)

    Ajeet Singh Dale has six!

He bowled beautifully yesterday morning and is doing so again today - this time he has removed Chris Benjamin who falls seven short of a ton.

Stewart and Benjamin were immovable objects yesterday with that huge partnership that has swung the game in Kent's favour but they've both gone early today.

Glos will want to wrap up the innings sharpish now.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 56-4 v Hants 300

Second drop of the day as Mark Stoneman shells a chance off Sam Hain.

A loose shot from the Bears batter who looks to drive Kyle Abbott but goes straight to wide mid-off. Stoneman leapt to his left, but can't hang on.

A second lifeline of the day for Hain. This time on eight.

  7. 'This game is nicely poised'published at 11:45 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

Sussex have come out and bowled beautifully.

They've come out this morning and got the wickets they needed, they've bowled in the right areas.

    This game is nicely poised.

  8. Career-best for Mintopublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 44-0 v Notts 407

A lovely piece of timing sees nightwatchman James Minto guide Mohammad Abbas to the backward point boundary.

It takes him to 29 and that's a new best first-class score for the youngster.

The blood is pumping and he flashes hard at the next ball, but sends it to the same stretch of boundary rope. He's up to 33 off just 35 balls.

  9. wicket

SOMERSET ALL OUT FOR 338published at 11:42 British Summer Time 17 May

    Vaughan c Robinson b McAndrew 80

It's not going to be a century for Archie Vaughan as he spoons one up to mid-off and it's quite the collapse by Somerset this morning.

Ollie Robinson does well to get in and make the catch to give Nathan McAndrew his fourth wicket of the innings.

The hosts have only added 21 runs from their overnight score, losing four wickets in 42 minutes.

That performance with the ball this morning has kept Sussex well and truly in this match. Game on.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 17 May

    Stewart c Bancroft b Singh Dale 182 (Glos v Kent 413-7)

Grant Stewart's brilliant innings is brought to an end at last as he's caught at second slip by Cameron Bancroft off Ajeet Singh Dale.

Stewart is stopped 18 short of his century but his partnership with Chris Benjamin was worth a whopping 264!

Kent were struggling 137-6 before those two got together so the importance of their work can't be underestimated.

Singh Dale's wicket means he has a five-fer - great stuff all round!

  11. wicket

    Budinger b Paterson 29 (Middlesex 232 v Leics 56-2)

Dane Paterson celebrates getting out Sol BudingerImage source, Rex Features

Make that eight wickets in hand...

Sol Budinger hits Dane Paterson for a six and then a four but then in the same over, Paterson gets his own back with an absolute beauty.

Budinger plays all around it and it goes through the gate.

Both openers are now gone for Leicestershire as Lewis Hill comes to the middle.

  12. 50 runs

50 up for Leicestershirepublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 v Leics 56-1

Leicestershire are moving along nicely this morning and have edged past the 50 mark.

They now trail by 176 runs with nine wickets still in hand.

  13. 'A huge opportunity for Minto'published at 11:35 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 34-0 v Notts 407

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcestershire

It's a huge opportunity for Minto to show what he's capable of with the bat.

He's played some lovely stroke shots this morning, it's great to watch.

  14. Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 34-0 v Notts 407

Frustration for the Notts bowlers as nightwatchman James Minto puts his foot down.

He climbs into a square cut to thrash Brett Hutton to the boundary.

The bowler's mood worsens as Minto then sends another full ball through midwicket for back-to-back fours.

The young bowler has equalled his first-class best of 25.

It brings a change as Lyndon James replaces Hutton.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 17 May

    Henry c Robinson b McAndrew 4 (Somerset 333-9 v Sussex)

Matt Henry tries to smash Nathan McAndrew back over his head but it's more up than over.

Ollie Robinson is able to trot round from mid-off and take a fairly comfortable catch as it drops out the sky.

This has been a brilliant morning for Sussex. Exactly what they would've wanted.

Archie Vaughan is 75 not out at the other end and very much running out of partners to make the century now.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 17 May

    C Allison b B Allison 0 (Worcs 358 v Essex 0-1)

    Emphatic!

What a start for Worcestershire and it's revenge for Ben Allison as he clean bowls his brother Charlie - stumps out of the ground!

Only about fifteen minutes or so ago Charlie caught Ben to end the Worcestershire innings.

Charlie only lasted two balls and Essex are yet to get off the mark.

    Wow, what a storyline!

Nothing like a little friendly rivalry between brothers is there - I'm sure they'll enjoy taking each other through each dismissal later on.

  17. Postpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 v Leics 46-1

A steady morning for Division Two leaders Leicestershire who have added 24 to their overnight total.

Sol Budinger (19*) and Rehan Ahmed (13*) are at the crease and the visitors will be hoping to put themselves in a dominant position at Lord's today.

  18. 50 runs

50 up for Warwickshirepublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 50-4 v Hants 300

Sam Hain takes a single off John Turner to go to seven and bring up the Bears fifty.

The bad news is, it's cost them four wickets.

  19. Postpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 60-1 v Yorkshire 255

Australian batter Kurtis Patterson is getting his first taste of County Championship cricket in England on debut for Surrey and he's getting quite the welcome from Yorkshire bowler Ben Coad.

An LBW appeal is followed by Patterson getting himself in a bit of a tangle before he gets off the mark with a couple through the off side and then another single to end the over.

Coad is looking good with the ball for the visitors.

  20. Postpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 280-5 v Derbys

Lancashire have come safely through the opening half-hour without damage.

George Balderson has been the main aggressor, moving to 23, featuring five boundaries, while George Bell has a patient 11 from 51 balls.
