  1. 'Burns will be disappointed'published at 11:27 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 56-1 v Yorkshire 255

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It was very nicely bowled by Jack White.

They have their first wicket in the opening hour.

Rory Burns will be disappointed with that, he had to play at it though. A big outside edge, and a good catch by Hill

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 48-4 v Hants 300

Harsh to call it a drop, but it's a half-chance.

Sam Hain launches a huge drive at John Turner and it flies to third slip and through James Fuller's grasp.

It arrived very quickly, before Fuller could get both hands above his head and it flies for four.

Hain gets a life on two.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 17 May

    Burns c Hill b White 31 (Surrey 56-1 v Yorkshire 255)

Breakthrough for Yorkshire and it's the big wicket of Surrey skipper Rory Burns!

Both Ben Coad and Jack White have bowled really well for the visitors this morning.

It's White who does the damage, finding the outside edge of Burns' bat and it's through to George Hill who takes a tidy catch low down at second slip.

  4. ouch!

Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 21-0 v Notts 407

James Minto is struck on the helmet by a lifting delivery from Mohammad Abbas and they run through for a leg bye.

The headgear looks to have done its job, but we'll have a pause to make sure the batter and the helmet are okay.

  5. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 326-8 v Sussex

There were some cheers and a round of applause as Somerset's number 10 came in to bat...

New Zealand bowler Matt Henry is back for his first appearance for Somerset since 2023 after returning to the club for a second spell.

    Worcs 358 v Essex

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

It’s taken 3.2 overs on the second morning for Essex to finally dismiss Worcestershire for 358 but how different it could’ve been if they hadn’t let things get away from them when they had the hosts 123-5 on day one.

There were some very strong words from captain Tom Westley when I spoke to him last night. He said it wasn’t good enough that they’d let Worcestershire get three batting points on the board and that they now need to show the same fight and determination they did in the Yorkshire draw with the bat in this match.

It’s a cooler and more overcast day at New Road – Dean Elgar will be key for Essex with the bat.

  7. Postpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 18-0 v Notts 407

Good start for the home side as they negotiate the opening five overs of the morning without alarm.

Nightwatchman James Minto is up to 11, while skipper Alex Lees has moved to seven.

It looks a nice pitch to bat on. But things can change.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 17 May

    Pretorius c Simpson b Robinson 1 (Somerset 326-8 v Sussex)

This morning session couldn't be going any better for Sussex!

Early wickets were very much the order of the day and early wickets they have... two inside 20 minutes.

A fantastic delivery from Ollie Robinson as it nips away from Migael Pretorius and he nicks it behind for John Simpson to take a regulation catch.

Well into the tail now and two more wickets needed. Archie Vaughan at the other end wondering whether he'll have enough partners to get to 100...

  9. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 56-0 v Yorkshire 255

Dom Sibley gets his first boundary of day two but it's not convincing. Ben Coad find the outside edge of Sibley's bat and it races straight through where a fourth slip might have been and goes for four.

  10. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 42-4 v Hants 300

Beau Webster looks in the mood as he cracks his second, third and fourth balls to the boundary as John Turner struggles to get his length right.

  11. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 52-0 v Yorkshire 255

Jack White and his Yorkshire team-mates are up in arms appealing for LBW as he gets one to dart back on Surrey skipper Rory Burns but it looks to just be doing too much and the umpire says no.

Two back-to-back maidens for the visitors, though.

  12. 'You really feel Sussex need to be batting before lunch'published at 11:16 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 326-7 v Sussex

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

A great take by Simpson, a great piece of bowling.

It was the inside edge, Simpson had to go way to his left.

A useful partnership, but that's the breakthrough. In games like this you need to take those opportunities.

You really feel like Sussex need to be batting before lunch.

  13. WORCS ALL OUT FOR 358published at 11:15 British Summer Time 17 May

    Worcs 358 v Essex

It didn't take Essex long to finish off Worcs this morning.

Ben Allison is the last man out - caught by his brother Charlie - off Shane Snater after making a valuable 38.

Snater ends with figures of 4-78 from his 24.2 overs.

Worcs will be happy with that total from where they were at one point yesterday, and in about ten minutes' time Essex will be out to begin their response.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 17 May

    Latham c Fuller b Turner 5 (Warwicks 30-4 v Hants 300)

    Big wicket!

John Turner gets just enough shape away to take the edge of Tom Latham's bat as the Kiwi batter reaches outside off-stump.

James Fuller, at third slip, stretches in front of second slip and takes a good low catch.

Latham hit a big hundred last weekend, but today lasts just 16 balls.

The Bears are in early trouble as Beau Webster joins the fray.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 17 May

    Overton c Simpson b McAndrew 28 (Somerset 325-7 v Sussex)

Sussex desperately needed an early wicket this morning and they've got one!

Craig Overton tries to drive at one just outside his off stump from Nathan McAndrew but it takes a big inside edge.

Wicket-keeper John Simpson does brilliantly to dive to his left and scoop it into his gloves. Great catch and an important breakthrough for the visitors.

  16. Postpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 17 May

    Worcs 358-9 v Essex

Jamie Porter and Shane Snater are on the attack for Essex as they hunt the final Pears wicket to end their first innings.

Ben Allison turns one away off his pads but can't get back for a second run as he slips at the non-striker's end.

Allison is trying his best to keep Yadvinder Singh off strike.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 17 May

    Hannon-Dalby c Prest b Abbott 2 (Warwicks 30-3 v Hants 300)

    There's confidence for you.

Olly Hannon-Dalby may have been sent in to protect the batters last night, but calls Tom Latham for a single to keep the strike for the next over.

He may regret that - OHD is out next ball!

Kyle Abbott gets one to straighten and takes the edge of Hannon-Dalby's bat. It flies straight to second slip Tom Prest who pouches the chance.

    Sam Hain joins Tom Latham.

  18. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 321-6 v Sussex

Somerset's first runs of the day come in style as Nathan McAndrew sends a fairly wide one down and Craig Overton stretches his arms to slap it away to the cover boundary to move onto 26.

  19. 50 runs

50 up for Surreypublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 52-0 v Yorkshire 255

Soft hands from Rory Burns as it takes a thick edge off Jack White and runs down to the boundary behind square on the off side and that brings up the 50 for Surrey.

  20. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 17 May

A maiden over from Sussex bowler Ollie Robinson to Archie Vaughan to start the day. Good start by Robinson. Vaughan easing back in gently.
